foundation issues!

Hey guys and girls,

I'm going through foundation hell right now! i always used to use maybelline wonder finish foundation - it dried to a powder finish and was reasonably matte. this has been discontinued now and i can't find it anywhere. the one i had store up must have gone bad because everytime i put it on it went orangey.

so i used some testers for a clarins foundation - it was very light and felt more like a tinted moisturiser and because i have discolouration i need something more medium covereage. but if this was a little more coverage it would be great!

then i bought the maybelline liquid mousse foundation. oh my goodness! at first i thought it was ok - however i have now come to the conclusion that it is far too oily for me (even though i think it's oil free!) my face actually feels like i have had a fine mist of oil sprayed on it. and i'm using a stupid amount of powder to try and take the oiley feeling away. plus it doesn't have alot of staying power which is suspect is because it's so greasy.

so i'm wondering if anybody can reccomend me a foundation that does the following -

-medium covereage which will even out discolouration and cover acne redness

-oil free if possible

- or if it does have oil make sure that when on the skin it dries to a powdery finish - i hate having a greasey feeling face!

and because i get spots quite easily i'm hoping for something that isn't known for causing breakouts.

am i asking for the impossible?! maybe!

thanks for any help given!

I use the MUFE Matte Velvet+ it leaves me very matte all day and I usually don't have to touch up. I can wear this foundation w/o having to wear concealer at all, so it gives great coverage but doesn't feel like too much

I'm using Lancome Teint Idole Ultra, I'm very happy so far. I have oily face and this foundation has a great coverage and is pretty matte! Hope it helps!!

I 'd suggest you Revlon ColorStay for combination/oily skin. This is the one I've been using and so far, thumbs up ! I have a very oily skin and doesn't get greasy later on (i've been using it with other products too, like mac matte and p+p transparent finishing powder). Another plus : it cover all the redness in my face as well. the colour match is perfect, i'm using the fairest (it's ivory, i think, i'm nw15) . the only thing i don't like is that it doesnt come with a pump. Other than that, a very good foundation for oily skin with a very good price !!

thanks guys!

i'm going out tommrow to check out the revlon colour stay - and will most likely get that.

and in 2 weeks i'll be in paris - so i can go to the mufe shop and try and get matched for the mat velvet foundation. jsut been doing some reading up on it and it sounds like a fantatsic foundation and just what i am after! just need to get colour matched in an actual store! it's not sold in uk stores - only one one website and i don't want to risk buying the wrong shade!

MUFE face and body! This is my HG, feels so light like you're wearing nothing, I have a lot of blemishes lately and this provides medium coverage, but not a complete covering of trouble spots. I use a mufe concealer for that.

thanks so much for the recs guys!

i went out and bought colour stay today!

mine is in the sade buff because i found the ivory one was much too pink (i even went out of the shop to check and it looked like a blush on my hand it was so pink!)

first impressions are good! it doesn't feel like a greasey mess! it corrects my discolouration around my mouth and it does indeed seem long wearing!

only slight niggle is that it smells kinda like paint!

and i'll have to get used to having no pump.

then when i'm in paris i shall go to the mufe store and get the mat velvet foundation - need to be colour matched in a store rather than buying it now on a website!

I love Revlon ColorStay too. Def get the ColorStay powder to set it. You'll have 0 shine and your makeup will not budge all day. Even the powder alone is sooo nice on my skin as a light foundation. It's a fabulous buy.

My current favourite is RCMA in shinto 2.. It is UH-MAZING.. i got samples from camera ready cosmetics for $4.. I use very little- mix it with mac oil control lotion with a spatula over the graftobian steel palette and it is awesome... I got terrible skin btw and the foundation sample will last me ages!!! my skin is flawless AND natural looking.Perfect colour match.

Give it a shot if possible

l'oreal used to do one that was liquid to powder foundation... i think it was called cashmere touch or something, but that sounds like exactly what you want, but alas, they stopped doing it!
also no.7 do a moose one, i work for boots and this is the one we are told to recommend for oily skin, but it doesnt say oil free on it...

'No7 Intelligent Balance Mousse Foundation glides on effortlessly for a barely-there feel keeping skin shine free all day long with a soft, natural-looking finish. Light-diffusing particles soften the appearance of fine lines for a luminous look, indoors or out.

  • Fragrance Free'

Hey,

I don't mean this to come across as being rude BUT (the mandatory but), maybe you should investigate why your skin is getting greasy in the first place. That sounds so rude and I really don't mean it to be. I too am a greasy girl and it annoys me. I've recently been using a Biore warming face wash and that has eliminated the greasies totally, now I just put on moisturiser and I'm fine. No grease, no nothing. I can go on the baking tube, run around and when I touch my forehead and nose it's completely dry, moisturised and no grease.

I was using up a lot of Dr Feelgood and Rimmel Powder before on keeping my skin matte but this wash has really worked. It cleared my skin up too and now I'm happy going sans foundation.

AND it's on offer in Superdrug for £2.44.

it's not actually my skin that is that greasy! it's the foundation. even when putting it on my hand it just slid around all over the place! i only get shiney on my forehead. i actually have dry cheeks. which is why i wanted a non greasey foundation.

Oh right

YSL make foundations which aren't greasy, they make my HG one which is more of a complexion perfector (it's what it is called) and that leaves me looking dewy and not greasy.

Have you tried the Rimmel Stay Matte liquid foundations? They dry to a powder finish.
