I am pretty sure acrylics are the only way to add length at all but you could always jsut get a french manicure painted on...there may be other ways and i am in no way a nail expert but thats my guess!

you can get the french manicures on your natural nail (without any type of acrylic nail/tip), but it's probably better to let your nails grow a little longer than you like them, because then they can file/shape them into a nice shape.

Get a technician who knows what she's doing. It sounds like the tech shredded your natural nails before applying the acrylic, which is WRONG. All that has to be done is removal of the shine/cuticle. This can be done with cuticle remover and light buffing. Some techs do use an electric file, but the attachment still should not damage your nails. Only advice I can give you is ask a friend where you could go and don't go cheap (you get what you pay for).

I thought a French manicure was just painting your nails a sheer pink and tipping them in white. You can definitely do that on your natural nails. It looks better if they're medium to long, though.

Yes, like some of the above said, you can just get it done on your natural nails. However, I've had it done before on my natural nails & it chipped right away. It didn't even last me a full day

I'm not sure what the brand was. It's been awhile (never got it done again), but it was done at a nail salon.
