Gasp - What is this? Viva Glam "20"

I just came accross this pic on MUA, belongs to: JillMarie

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it just a promo for a fashion show or AIDS benefit, cuz obviously there hasn't been 10 MAC Viva Glam colors......

it's probably a celebration of their 20-year aniversary. from my understanding, MAC started sometime in the 80s, right? and viva glam is just their motto, i'm sure it's not a promo for viva glam 20...just a guess though...

Interesting. Apparently the event took place over the weekend. Fashion Cares is Canada’s largest fundraiser for the fight against AIDS.

Yeah, I live in Canada, I have heard of fashion cares before, but I never really knew what it was. I guess it was just private promo for them., I thought maybe they were doing a small collection for them or something.....

fashion cares is a benefit held each year in toronto to benefit the aids committe of toronto. this year is the 20th anniversary.

I think its macs 20 year anniversary! Mac came about in 1986. But for some reason the el site says 1994 before it said 1986 in toronto canada.

...

Anyways I wonder if their going to have a really special collection for the occasion.

You're right..technically, MAC did start in the mid-Eighties...That's when the original owners started the company as a small CC all about artistry. Don't take this as gospel..but I think EL bought MAC in '94...hence, to them (EL), MAC began when they bought it...You can count on some bloodsucking corporate conglomerate to think that way!!!

that sucks if they think that they 'started' mac. Big corporations suck, they only think about themselves.

I hope that there is something special seeing as this year holds the real 20 anniversery of the line M.A.C Cosmetics as a whole. It would be really terrible if EL made it so that there wasnt a huge celebration like Mac deserves.

Only time will tell.

I volunteered at the Fashion Cares event this past weekend and from what I could tell it was not a celebration of MAC Cosmetics' anniversary it is the 20th anniversary of Fashion Cares itself.

that was my understanding too as the event isn't really about MAC. MAC is just the major event sponsor.

Its mostly just a large fashion show, to benefit aids research. I know if you are in Canada you can apply to be a volunteer, I've emailed a couple of times, but never actuall got to work there.. maybe next year!
I have a friend who was a model at this years event, and Pamela Anderson was hosting it, he said nobody could get anywhere near Pamela cause of security etc...
too bad.
I love mac for doing this! If any of you in canada have the FT channel, they show it a couple of weeks later.

Yeah, this year was the 20th anniversary of Fashion Cares...not MAC. This was also the last year that MAC was the major sponsor. I heard rumours from some coworkers who did backstage makeup there that L'Oreal may be taking over? Not sure though...just a rumour.

This was mentioned quite a bit while I was there. That would suck if it ends up being true.

Mac's 20 year anniversery has to be this year some time. It started in 1986 I just turned 20 so it should be too

this fashion cares event was really big because its the last fashion cares event that's ever going to happen. or that mac is going to be doing the make-up for it.

you can catch it on entertainment tonight or something. not sure which episode it will be airing the fashion cares event....but ms. pamela was there!!!! she did her speech for mac, and it was pretty awesome!

I'm not in Canada, but I also heard the same thing re: L'Oreal....
