Gel/Cream EyeLiners

Which one do you use? What brand? Pros? Cons?

I use fluidlines from MAC (blacktrack, royal wink and blue peep) but I heard Loreal HIP and Bobbi Brown gel/cream liners are the best. Is that true? What makes them better in quality?

Re: Gel EyeLiners

I haven't tried Bobbi Brown or Smashbox's gel liner. I did try Smashbox creme liner and it sucks. I haven't tried Stila Smudge pots but I hear really good things. I used to use Blacktrack on occasion but I wasn't wild about it. I now use L'Oreal's HIP Color Truth Creme Liner. I love it! It's blacker than the fluidline and goes on more smoothly and you don't have that issue with the brush separating the liner. This liner goes on exactly where you put it. You can get really close to your lashline too. It's so rich and you don't need a lot. I use my #266 with it and I use it almost everyday.

I have tried MAC F/L the loreal gel liners ...and bobbi brown. I definetly prefer the bobbi brown gel liners ..the consitency is just way more smooth and the product has not dried out at all like my mac f/l I have had just as long ..there is no need to blast my BB liners with the hair dryer to make them more smooth lol.

I think that the advantage MAC has over BB liners is the range of colors u can get from mac versus the BB Liners are mor neutral and less bold than lets say uppity or the aqua toned liners hehe.

i looove Stila Smudge Pots.. they're so creamy & dark. i like them better than L'Oreal HIP creme liners; those seem more thin & i feel like i have to apply more to get a nice bold line.

I've tried Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliners as well and I love it...it's very easy to line your eyes with it as it glides on smoothly to the lashline and also the waterline. I usually dip a black liner pencil to the gel liner and line my waterline and it sticks to it even without pressure whatsoever. Great stuff. And it doesn't smudge or run either.

Im currently using Bobbi Browns gel liner - granite ink

PRO: glides on really smoothly, doesnt dry out in the pot, lasts all day

CON: theres nothing bad i can say about it apart from when i bought it... it looked black on the counter then when i got home i realised by the name i must have got the wrong one but i looked on the site and granite ink is a grey colour

still looks black on me though

Bobbi Brown's formula is far superior to MAC's fluidlines and I prefer their color selection.

Products I use/used:

Clinique Brush on Cream liner in True Black and Black Honey - fab texture, highly pigmented, easy to blend and large quantity of product in comparison to BB and MAC

Bobbi Brown - superb staying power, good texture, easy to blend and good color selection. The new formulas don't dry out quickly and Bronze/Chocolate Shimmer are must haves for brown eyed gals IMO.

MAC - best gel liner for tightlining and to use on the waterline, minimal smudging, creamy enough to control the thickness of the line but dries quickly, great color selection. My faves are Macroviolet, Waveline and Blitz n Glitz

Stila - larger quantity than MAC and BB, highly pigmented, slightly more "soft" than BB and MAC, zero smudging, very good staying power, decent color selection. I like Black, Bronze and Jade.

Laura Mercier - highly pigmented, very easy to apply but too pricey for the quantity of product. Plus the quality isn't superior to products by MAC and BB. I use only one shade - Caviar - for tightlining.

Products I have tried out but didn't like:

L'Oreal Hip - smudged a lot and very limited color selection. But for a drugstore item, it is quite reasonable given the quantity/price makes it more economical than MAC and Clinique.

Kate - very basic, hard to find and product in the pot dried up quickly (I have BB, MAC, Stila gel liners that have lasted more than two years)

Smashbox - average quality but pricey product - I tried out only Black. Stayed on the waterline for about eights hours but once I discovered Clinique True Black, I didn't bother going back to Smashbox.

Bobbi Brown gel eyeliners are hands down THE best liners ever! I now have about 5 different shades. Granite is awesome. I do use Smashbox jet set in the waterline - its made for the waterline & stays put - at least on me.

How well do MAC Fluidlines stay in the waterline? I always have trouble with eyeliner application there.

Fluidline is not good for waterline IMO. It runs almost instantly on me (but it's hard to get most stuff to stay on my waterline). For my upper lashline it works great though.

lol the only gel liner i have is fluidline in blacktrack, waveline and non-conformist. NC is excellent as a base for purple e/s as i found out today. the shadows lasted and is the next best thing to udpp imo

I have tried both Stila and Loreal. Both stayed really well on me and almost every pencil liner I have tried runs like crap on me. Loreal goes on a bit smoother than Stila but Stila has a more dramatic effect, at least on me. Stila's color selection is a bit better. Overall I think I prefer Stila. I would still recommend both, it just depends on how much you want to spend and what color you want.
