What is the cause of your uneven skin tone, is it blemishes?
You could try Mederma or any hydroquinone based product.
Whatever you decide always use a good sunscreen.

You could also try using an AHA-based moisturizer like Neutrogena healthy skin or Alpha Hydrox on a regular basis to help exfoliate the upper layers of skin.

To even out my skin minus foundation, I would mix facial moisturizer and a little amount of foundation OR use Mac's Select Moisture Cover on the undereye area and anywhere else. Then use MSFN or Pur Minerals. That's what I do practically everday.

But for the long term process, get a facial or exfoliate with a good product (not St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Go with something finer or more "micro").

I'm using Philosophy's MicroExfoliating Wash everyday then using a good moisturizer mixed with sunscreen. Exfoliating helps a lot-you just have to make sure if you use a separate product to do it twice a week.

What is the cause for your unevenness? I've been using Retin-a (available only with a prescription) and its done wonders for my skin which has reddness from old blemishes, and occasional breakouts. For pigmentation/discolouration, try whitening products, mario badescu makes a really good whitening mask, and dermalogica does a whitening line. 'whitening' doesn't make your skin WHITE, so dont be scared of losing colour

It just evens out your skin tone awesomely.

Howabout Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer? They have three shades for three different purposes:

BLEND is apricot-toned to even out skin tone and counteract discoloration and dark spots.
BALANCE is lavender-toned to brighten dull or sallow skin.
ADJUST is green-toned to reduce redness.

I haven't personally tried them but I use the regular Photo Finish and I quite like it... What I would do is use the BLEND or ADJUST one (try getting a sample of both to see what works better) with MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder (or something similar)

OR Too Faced has just come up with a new primer - Primed & Poreless Face Primer - which "was scientifically formulated to wear under bronzers and foundation powders, or alone, to achieve the look of flawless skin without makeup" - that would be a less expensive alternative... I have decided to buy and try this so if you wait a few days I can post a review here or something

Benefit Get Even is good for getting rid of redness and evening out skintone. You have to be realllyy careful not to over-apply though, cuz it can get cakey. When I don't want to wear foundation I either use Get Even, or MAC MSFN with some concealer underneath.

I have a problem with redness and I tried a sample of the makeup forever colour correction primer and it worked very well. I definitely plan on buying that one soon!

I like to exfoliate my skin about twice a week and use tinted moisturizer during the day. i have a lot of red marks from post acne and scars so this has been helping me.
