Hi girls! I just registered yesterday, but I'm really anxious to get some opinions and help with my makeup. This was taken last Saturday and is a standard look for me-

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...aurus/me30.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6.../eyesparty.jpg

I'm wearing-
Maybelline waterproof liquid eyeliner in black (top lids)
Too Faced liquid lava gloss super black eyeliner (bottom lid)
Bourjois coup de theatre mascara in nior diva
Bonnebell sweet lavenders eyeshadow
Maybelline blush brush in sweetheart rose
Covergirl TruBlend foundation in classic ivory

As I said in my Welcome Forum message, I LOVE makeup, but I've only been wearing full makeup for a year or so. So I have a lot of learning to do. I love dramatic or girlie looks, but I want to branch out and be a makeup expert eventually. So please tell me how to improve.

Overall, I say it looks pretty darn good! I really like what you have done with your brows... Purple is a good colour for you!

Keep it up!

:p

Your liner is a bit messy but I love the colour on you. I think a darker pinkish purplish would have looked lovely on the outer corners. I adore your eyebrows!!

... I just posted on your Welcome post... anyway...

overall good job.
smiles.gif
... I think I would try a pencil liner for top and bottom... until you get a stead hand:thumbsup: .... the light purple color is a nice wash... but if you want a bit more depth... try a deeper shade of purple.and maybe another color to go with it... like golds or greens.

yea i must say ur brows look very nice. and i like the colors u used,
I think for not having much expereince with MU that ur doing A pretty good job with ur application. i wouldnt worry soo much about the liner
either, i mean really who puts liner on perfectly anyways.
smiles.gif
Everyone one has their own indavidual look, and style. The only thing i would do different is the bottom lash line , i would have either lined them all the way or just not lined them at all. Once again ur overall look is great,
I read that u want to do dramatic and girlie looks..... Play around with some colors
smiles.gif
I cant wait to see the next look u post!!

The blusher is very pretty.

As far as improvements, I think a thinner and more precise liquid liner application on your top lid would make the look even lovelier. It would allow more of the pretty shimmering shadow to be seen, which will make your eyes look bigger while still being framed. If I am rushed and want a fool-proof application, the following works well for me ...

Lay a mirror flat on your desk, and look down into it when applying your eyeliner. It gives a very precise finish, getting the line very smooth and very close into the lashes. Just the angle you are viewing it at makes a big difference, it makes it easier to see the join of the lid to the lashes and thus get the liner in there well. It does also change the angle you are holding the pencil or brush at, and this makes the application more comfortable so the hand glides along easily even with a thin pointy liquid liner brush. Also try doing this with a magnifying mirror maybe. Practice really will help, and it will take time to perfect it, but looking down into the mirror while applying liner, rather than straight up face on at it works really well.

Also, perhaps curl your lashes before applying mascara to open up your eyes more.

I love the colours you've chosen. They look really good on you and work well together too. Good job and look forward to more of your posts!

WOW, im impressed for not having years of experience like most of us girls do. i totally love the blush that you have on, it rocks. I also agree with some of the previous comments, your lining technigue will get better over time and with a steady hand. For now i would try using a pencil eyeliner and smunging. Also toamp up this look and make it more dramatic, i agree with the adding a darker purple in the outer v of your lid and blend, you'd be amazed at how one more e/s color will make such a huge difference. So last thing, i love you eyebrows, they have a really good shape and are very clean.

I think you look awesome! Very pretty in pink! I think the only thing I would do differently is make the eyeliner just a bit thinner, and only on the top lid, cause I think it makes eyes look bigger and more natural.....but that's just me, even if you don't do it, you still look awesome!!!

Just remember, practice makes perfect!!!!

I agree

A darker purple colour on the outer corners would add depth to the eyes and make 'em pop! It looks good overall though. And your lashes! They look great

You're off to a great start! I love the colors you chose! The only suggestion I have would be for you to start dabbling here and there with contours and highlights. As others have suggested, maybe adding a darker color on the outer corners of the eye for contour there, but also maybe starting out with a very light contour(such as covergirl tanfastic bronzer) under the cheekbones to give definition to those great cheeks! As for the highlighting, maybe a very light vanilla-y color just under the brow to really make your eyes stand out!Hope this was helpful without being too pushy

It's great to have you here!

it's kind of sloppy,
but all of us males have to start out sloppy while we learn just how to contoure our faces more feminine like.

Go with darker colors until you've mastered effects, that's what I did when I first started.
also, I'd suggest against liquid eyeliner, but that's just because I don't like it on anyone, really.

Haha. I know it's sloppy. Starting out with dark colors is counter-intuitive in a way, since us males aren't really supposed to even wear makeup. So it's easier socially to start out light and build the confidance to wear darker colors. But your advice makes sense educationally.

Thanks Minrlluv2! I'm pretty sure you'll approve of the pics I'll post next (purple and silver), where my eyes are more contoured. But I don't have the first clue how to contour my cheeks! I didn't even realize I had visible cheekbones. Any in depth instructions? (not that I have bronzer yet...)

I think that is extremely well for not using make up a whole lot

I think it would look great with some different shades in there as well. You have gorgeous eyes and once you feel more comfortable with different colors, you could really make them pop out. I think you would look really good in some greens as well. Also some nice nude colors. I love Bare essentials for a nude look and the Mac shadows for the others. Anyway I think you did a great job.

It's a darned good start. Liquid liner is a practice practice practice issue and black is tough.
Your brows, might I say, kick butt. And they're really tough to do.
Morgasm is right - unfortunately as a society we don't encourage boys to play with makeup which I think is sad.
While you're practicing with the liquid liner, start practicing with the more intense colors - I know they're intimidating but you can use darker shades with an angle brush to smooth/smoke out liquid liner.
Tip - if you start expermenting with a smokier eye, DO YOUR EYES FIRST. Then clean up the fall-out and do the rest of your foundation. Also - if there is a MAC store nearby you might want to consider treating yourself and booking a lesson (the stand-alones have private consultation rooms) - they're about $40 bucks, it's a full lesson - and we love boys who want to look like girls who want to look like boys - and we really stand by and believe in our "all ages/all races/all sexes" motto... it might also help you to know all the guys who work for MAC are required to wear full makeup on counter - they do it in varying degrees - so from a natural flawless look to "butch drag" to full on showgirl.

Thanks again about my brows! I'm glad all that work tweezing pays off.
Thanks also for the tip on smoky eyes. I've tried them before and love the look. Here's my first attempt at them from last year...

That's so cool that all guys who work for MAC are required to wear full makeup on counter! Sounds like my kind of job.

I'm ashamed to admit I don't have any MAC products yet, but I plan to fix that soon. From what I see and hear, they'll help a lot. Now if I can just scrounge up the $40 for a lesson...

That's *really* good. Lots of people can't get the hang of it - one of the best first attempts I've seen. No shame in not having any MAC - we're a bit pricier and we never have sales or gift with purchase. Also as you get more experienced you'll figure out what you want to invest in and what you don't. We're not on commission either and advice is always free from us! One reccomendation off the top though is to start investing in brushes, especially for foundation (you'll waste less product)... Sonia Kashuk at Target is a pretty good place to start if you're on a budget... read the specktra stickies on caring for them... You can have the best products in the world but you need the tools to put them on!!
Yeah, I've got total brow envy. Can't do my own to save my life.

I hate that today's society says that males cannot wear makeup. Honestly, I think makeup is for anyone and everyone. I say if you are a male, please experiment with makeup. If you are an older female, please experiment with bolds. There are no rules in makeup and for today's society to try and put rules on it, it ruins the appeal. We must try to move away from rules such as these and live life our own way. I applaud you Mickey. You are awesome.
