GoldSpill and Northern Light MSFs

Hello everyone,

I purchased these MSFs a while back now and I'm having some trouble using them. The color output is very minimal and all that seems to show through is the sparkle/glimmer/sheen aspect of it. I am BE medium beige or Prescriptives y/o real beige. Any advice or recs are much appreciated!!

thanks

When I use my Northern lights I use a bit of my Rare and Refined Richmetal Highlighter (Couture Collection) to grab the color, not just the sheen. Try using a CCB like Shell or a dab of a Blushcreme, it might help.

I'm NC35 and northern light shows up really well on me (w/o glitter or the need to layer - I have two, one being a lot lighter than the other)...good spill, however, only works as a almost transparent highlighter (basically gives the skin some glow/shine). Have you tried using them with a 187? Or wet?

I use the 187 for my northern lights msf, and honestly, it's not as impressive as I thought it would be... I like the sparkle it gives, but, whats the big deal with msf's haha? im still glad I bought it though

haha I'm not sure I want to get those as well I think they ook good but then again I don't like a lot of color on my cheeks. Try a brush that will pick up more? or maybe use it more as a hi-lighter?

So far that's basically what I've been doing, I apply foundation, then blot pressed powder, then blush... and then just dust northern lights over my temples and my cheeks, I NEED a real powder brush though, I've been holding off because the MAC one that I want is 50 dollars, right now I only have kabukhis and 187's.

I'm NC43 & what I do is use springsheen blush & dab Northernlight MSF & use a 187 brush to blend it together. It makes my blush stand out & gives my cheeks that awesome glow. HTH others out there.

if i use my 187 brush for my northern light i get a sheen across my cheeks which looks good for when i want a natural look but when i use a blush brush i get more of a pinky colour but stil minimal

OK, so I'm really intrigued by these MSFs, but I'm not totally sure what they're for. Are they supposed to be a blush or cheek higlighter? Do they go all over the face? Does everyone feel that thay are worth the investment, or can you get the same effect by using a regular brushes and some ES to highlight? Thanks!

I find that Northern Lights and Gold Spill aren't really meant to have a great colour output. I don't own Northern Lights, however, I do have Gold Spill and I find that it works best over a little bit of blush. That's if I just want a little sheen to make my blush look more 'finished'. However, if you want it to really have an effect while not wearing blush, you can intensify the colour by dampening your hand and then running the tip of whichever brush you use for application over it. This way the hair tips are slightly damp and pick up the MSF better.

The only MSF from Flashtronic that I find really works without a blush underneath it is Global Glow. It has a LOT more colour payoff than Northern Lights and Gold Spill.

As others have said... it's better to pair Northern Light with a blush underneath it to actually get some kind of colour haha

If you're set on really getting the colour from the MSF to show by itself though... I've tried applying it with the baby kabuki from Novel Twist- Just swirl it on the MSF, then tap it. and tap it, and tap it some more gently to get rid of all that glitter

THEN buff it in gently, and repeat as necessary

That's the ONLY way I've managed to get Northern Light to show up as PINK on me instead of as 'shimmer' or 'very pale sheen' -___- (edit to add that I'm NW15... but I like my blush as colour as opposed to 'light sheen')

As for Gold Spill... I have it... But I haven't touched it. Lightscapade all the way!

I use Northern lights as a blush, it gives me a light pink glow. Godl Spill however, I use over blush as a highlighter. It looks lovely over Springsheen. I wear NC200 in Hyperreal foundation.

I had the same problem with them, it made my face look more oily than anything else. I'm thinking maybe just as a highlighter it'll work, but not all over the cheeks.

I have Northern Light and I just pick it up on a cheap drugstore powder brush, spray it with a little Fix+ and buff it on =) (I'm NW35 btw)
