It's so cool- Extreame Home Makeover is litearlly 5 minutes away from me right now working on a house for a family in my town that also goes to my church!! They are the coolest people-- they have taken in little kids for YEARS who's parents were drug addicts.. I always see them in church.. and my mom was their twin girls' third grade teacher aid @ their gradeschool about 4 years ago...

I actually went to school w/ the middle son (josh) and he was one of my first boyfriends... they are the COOLEST people ever and im soooooooooo happy for them!!!!!!!!! it's the neatest thing! Its insane because i literally was at this house allll the time when i was a kid/pre-teen because their older son's were on my bus route! HAHA! I used to live lk 20 seconds TOPS (one street over) from their house.......... IM SO FRIGGIN EXCITED FOR THEM!!!! Knowing and being so close to this family for almost my entire life- the whole thing is just soooo surreal!!!

Keep the team and esp little Jake- who the re-modeling really is for (he has a rare form of bone disease and suffers from dwarfism.. just one of the little kids that the Grys' family has taken in whos mother had passed on drug and alcohol addiction to) in your prayers! I will post updates if anyone is interested as it goes!!! =)

hahah yupp its done in exacty one week!! They started monday morning and they grys family will be back here next monday morning.. the whole block is blockaded with police and no one can get through between 7am and 7pm.... there was a guy @ the gas station who was saying he wad delivering lumber there tonight @ midnight because they seriously work round the block... theyve also compensated the houses and famiies around the work site (in some way.. not sure how) because of the constant loud noices because they literally work on it 24/7.

Now- the guy @ the gas station PISSED me off today... he was bitching about how he had to go a diff way to work and stuff and getting all pissy saying that this was "uneccesary" and a "waste of time" and he didnt even know who the "lady" was that they were building the house for and just bitch bitch bitch

I finally looked at him(ive never been one to hold my tounge) and go "you klnow what? you dont even KNOW that family. It's not the mother they are building the house for- its for the poor little 7 year old boy who suffers from all these diseases and for the other kids in the house who the Grys family has been taking in for over 15 years whos mothers were too unselfish to get off the drugs and alcohol while they were pregnant. They moms didnt want these babies so they Grys family took them in and have dedicated their LIVES to raising all these children. Thats the epitome of unselfish in my book and maybe you could take a clue form them and get over your bitching about having to drive 5 minutes out of your way to get to work."

His attitude IMMEDIATLEY changed and he was like "dont get me wrong i think its a good thing.." the ladies in front of me were like "you're a piece of shit." it was RIDICULOUS...

thats awesome. they should know that what they get isn't free. they have to pay taxes for it. most of the people who were on extreme makeover have to sell their house in order to pay the taxes.

...but the property taxed in my town are NOT BAD at all... I live in such a small po-dunk town that no one really cares about... haha

I just wonder how long it will be until their episode is aired

Well..they did one here...Shimmer will probably remember...They put this upscale mansion in the middle of one of the not so upscale neighborhoods....It's like you drive drive down the street and it's like
"BAM RIGHT THERE" out of place...and weird.... Hope they never try to sell it...Unless all their neighbors upgrade of course...

AdlersMommy--I live on the northside and I had no idea they were around shooting an episode. I can't wait to catch it on TV!

(Also, that picture of you and your baby is too adorable, and I'm also a Sox fan--yes, weird for a northsider, but still, can't help it! I'll have to get a Konerko avatar eventually...)

I hope having them this close to you didn't ruin your view of them. It's cool to watch, but...

They did a house close to where I live a few years ago. I work at a salon/spa. They had us stay open for them late every night. Ty refused to use the front door and one of his 'deals' was that no one, not even staff, could talk to him or even look at him. He was a huge pain. Wanting for us to be 'on call' 24 hours a day. We were all ready for them to leave. Though he was the worst. It really ruined him for me; he's such a diva.

They didn't pay (we donated), which is fine. Really, the most friendly one was, hmm (the one with the glasses. I cant remember, but he's my mom's favorite.) He let people talk to him, and gave out autographs and was sooo nice. The others weren't bad, but Ty sucked.

It was kind of interesting. Not everyone who wants to help can; at least not here. People signed up to volunteer and got turned away. They only let certain people in. And, I'm sure it's pretty obvious that the main crew doesnt do as much as it looks like. They put makeup on to look worn out and I've seen SOME of them wait around and then grab a paintbrush for shot, then toss it back to the volunteer who really did it. Not everyone did this, but some did.

Anyhow, I appreciate what they do, or bring the opportunity to do. I still like the show and watch when available (and my mom watches every week), it's just interesting to see it all up close.

I never really got to see it up close, but my dad's a cop and went to do security and the british guy started talking to him and told him he could go in and look at the house and my dad goes "I dont have a security pass" and the guy goes "uh yeah you do- and pointd to his badge." LOL.. so him and my dad just went into the house and he showed him around and i guess they spent like an hour talking about guns. LOL!

Thats really sad that they are like that... it kinda ruins it

on an off note has anyone ever see the episode of always sunny in philadelphia where they help the Juarez family? LOL.. its SO hilarious
