Hey Yall,

I wanted to depot my shadows and thought the candle method was super tricky for me because I am so impatient! I spoke to my MAC artist in Houston and he suggested Baking the shadow (once the top part of the eyeshadow case has been popped out using a tweezer). Bake on 350 degrees and watch it melt for about 3-4 minutes. The plastic melts and makes it so easy to pop your color out. It will be HOT so be careful!!

Another tips I found was that if you want to try a MAC pigment before you buy, the associates i've encountered are more than happy to give you a sample in a tiny MAC jar. A good time to do this is when you are making a purchase.

Any other tips?

Tip: clean your brushes with baby shampoo works just as well as the brush cleaner and is cheaper

Is there a tip like melting the glue inside but not the plastic case(very tricky i know i know), I just really really HATE the smell from burning the plastic, not just it's stink, it's bad for ur health...

I do a variant of the candle method and don't find it a lot of hassle at all. I prise the inner bit of the pot out with a vegetable knife, grasp the plastic lip of the pan surround gently with kitchen scissors (I don't have tongs, so improvised) to stop my hand getting scorched, and just hold my cigarette lighter under the pan, it's quick and easy... when the plastic starts to bubble and cracks open, I use the vegetable knife again to push the metal pan out. Takes under a minute, honestly.

The MA at my local MAC counter says that baking the pots isn't a good idea because it changes the texture of some of the softer shadows.

I use my hair straightener. Super easy!

Oh, and be careful when you depot matte shadows, they (at least for me) tend to break easier.

You basically blast ur hair dryer on the back of the e/s and then take it out w/ an exacto knife or something thin.
