Gripe about eBay...

So, today I was attempting to list a few MAC items, and I get this:

"You can not submit your listing due to the following problems

Attention Seller:
Thank you for choosing eBay.

In order to help maintain a safe trading environment, selling limits are occasionally placed on listings. At this time, you are limited as to the listing of certain branded items. Please do not attempt to relist this item for 30 days.

Sellers who have built a long-standing and consistent positive history of selling such items may be eligible to have these limits raised. If you believe that you would qualify and would like eBay to review your limits, please email us at Customer Support.

We sincerely value you as a member of our trading Community and look forward to a continued successful relationship with you.

What is this now? They are going to only allow you to sell so many MAC items? And I can't try and relist the item for 30 days? Just really pissed off at eBay right now. I had to e-mail them and they will respond in 24-48hrs.

Anyone else gotten this? Guess they don't care about the 50+ Cover Girl items I already have listed...LOL

What a stupid rule. They lost my respect quite a long time ago. They have limits on branded items, but what about the millions of fake MAC on Ebay? No problem!!

I never knew that there was a limit on MAC or other high end cosmetics. You would think that they would let you list what ever you would like since they make money off of every auction. Could this be coming from Estee Lauder?

It's possible that the brand itself had something to do with it, not necessarily just eBay. GHD is trying to crackdown on people selling stolen, tampered with, or counterfeited GHDs because it's costing the company money. Rather than buy a real ghd, people (like me a few weeks ago lol) are trying to score on eBay. Then they get a good counterfeit and resort to shady ways of trying to recoup their loss, such as buying a real ghd, putting the counterfeit back in its box and returning it (happens all the time at our stores unfortunately). They don't lose money, but ghd does.

I'm not saying that you or other eBay sellers are doing this, but it's an example. I'm sure MAC loses quite a bit of money from people buying/trading online rather than in store. Things are bad enough in this economy, they don't need another problem sucking away at their profits.

I'm STILL waiting for their lousy reply. I just wish there was somewhere where it told what the limits are. I've searched and searched and can't find anything on it. Oh well... It it truly eBay's loss, as there were times where I'd buy large lots of makeup (when the price was good), keep what I want and sell/swap the rest.

Yes it happened to me about 3 months ago...and I have sold over 500 items on Ebay.

It takes quite sometime for them to reply...However I learned the hard way that every time you re-submit your question it cancels out the first one and your time starts over!! Uggghhh But, They did remove my restrictions after about a week..not 24-48 hrs as they say. They check your feedback and as long as you have good FB with no complaints of non-authentic or used cosmetic sales they will remove the restriction. I have been able to relist everything immediately since the restrictions have been removed and list as many as I want. I think they are just trying to cut down on the amount of non-authentic items being sold. It's unfortunate but sometimes the honest people have to suffer because of the dishonest sellers. They also have it where you can not list a cosmetic for less than 5 days now...so they have time to check and investigate all listings is what they told me. They said anything under 3 days they do not always catch so they have a better rate of detecting bad product if it is listed for at least 5+ days.

YUP I had this problem too, and the worst part is I'm a postcard collector/trader and they count the freaking postcards towards the limit too! KILL ME.

And then when I had an item posted for a BIN and it wasnt selling, I went to lower the BIN price (which you can do at any time if youre item has no bids) and it wouldn't even let me EDIT the auction because I had reached my Mac limit, which I swear must only be like 4 items a month because I DONT sell that much.

Yep, I have the limit as well. 100% positive and all I've ever sold was MAC on ebay. I've had the restriction since I started selling about 6 months ago, and it only lets me list 9 items a month. I had a problem with the last items i listed where the pictures didnt show on any of my items. Since I listed everything at the same time with turbo lister, it took me to my limit and I couldnt edit my listings to fix the pictures. I was so pissed! I emailed them and they told me the only thing I can do is leave it the way it is, or end my listings and wait another 30 days to list them again. Ebay is just so ridiculous. They are gonna make the good sellers stop selling if they keep up with this crap

This is also going on with Rock & Republic jeans as well as many other brands of designer denim. There's some rants going on in some jean forums! This really sucks because i'm going to list a bunch of MAC & R&R stuff on eBay this weekend and i really hope i don't have any problems!

A lot of people are getting turned off by eBay lately! So much BS!!! I just wish i knew more places to buy & sell!

I am bumping this because I finally got the dreaded listing limit while trying to sell some MAC stuff the other day. I e-mailed ebay about lifting my limit and they wouldn't. I have 69 feedbacks all positive with no negatives or neutrals and they won't lift the limit. They said to resubmit my request in 90 days but I am wondering how I am supposed to build a good repuatation if I can't sell anything? Does anyone know how I can have the limit lifted?

I would email them again....Because based on your positive sales..they should lift it.....Are the majority of your feedbacks from selling? If they are from buying then they probabaly won't lift it...But if they are from sales...they should... But I would try again

This particular scenario hasn't happened with me, but ebay and I are fighting. I like the premise of the company and have been a member for years, but I hate all the secrecy that goes on for limits and removing listings.

Thanks Tish! I sent them another e-mail so we will see what happens. I am have about 60% of my feedback from selling and the other 40% is from buying. We will see what happens but it really ticks me off!

Well I have over 750+ and 500 is sells and I had to send them 2 emails...I think it will be okay, you just have to be presistent...I was super ticked trust me!! Not like they aren't gonna make their money off the sales you list

I know they are doing this for Baby Gap you have to CALL them and talk to a human to get the limit raised, if you have several hundred feedbacks you won't have much of a problem, under 100 and they won't be very helpful, sorry.

What gets my goat is when I see lots of fake MAC from sellers but they put these rules on the real items, crazy
