If you want a really sleek straight look I would blow dry and flat iron.

And you'll definitely want to put a heat protectant in your hair before you do any of those. I would recommend something like CHI's silk infusion serum or spray. [Kenra, Biosilk, and SexyHair also have good shine products.] I noticed that products that are made more for shine work better when straightening than products that are suppose to 'smooth' or 'temporarily relax'. If anything you could put those products in before you blowdry. [Catwalk's Fashionista, and Redken's Outshine01 would be good for the blowdry.]

This much heat to your hair will be damaging so it is key to use your heat protecting products. Also you might want to invest in some moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and maybe even upgrade your leave in conditioner to a weekly deep conditioning masque.

Also your hair looks really healthy, so you probably wouldn't need as much product as my highlighted hair does.
HTH! :]

^i don't like blow drying my hair. it takes too long and waste too much electricity. i always air dry my hair. i don't want to spend that much money on a flat iron so can you recommend me a good flat iron that is under $100.

Well, to get a propper sleek look like in a salon, you pretty much have to blow dry the hair. Air drying is never going to give you that perfect sleek look you're after.

I find the best way to get sleek hair is blowdrying it over a big round brush and using some leave-in conditioner or styling milk to enhance shine and tame frizzies.

you dont need to blowdry your hair i never do. i shower before bed so by morning, my hair is dry.

I use Biosilk in my hair and then flat iron. my hair is always sleek and shiney looking when i do this.

i used to be a loyal chi owner (had 6 of them all broke) and went to Target and bout a Revlon one. its white and thin and i think it was like 70. it works just as well if not better then the chi because it has a longer iron so i can do a longer section.

I have nothing for you then. Sorry.

You could try hot tools or Gold'n'Hot brand appliances, they are cheap, not the best brands for my hair, but cheap. I think stores still carry that brand?

No idea what is in the stores in CA.

Hopefully someone more local to you can help you out.

I bought mine, I believe a Conair, at Wal Mart for like 20 bucks. Its not very long, but the heat area is wider than normal, and has heats levels 1 - 20!

Try a smoothing serum on damp hair. ONce your hair is air dryed then flatiron it in sections try hot tools or something. Then spray a shine spray.

Sally beauty has good flatirons for under $100, when I started using flatirons I had a Jilbere de Paris one that worked great. I also here their GVP line (their CHI dupes) are pretty good too. You can order online or go to the website to find a store near you.

I would really invest in a good flat iron. I've had my Chi for a year, my friends have all had theirs for over four years.. And they still work perfect. You just have to take care of them, make sure you don't drop them or anything, and clean them. I used to have a crappy Hot Tools one and my hair is so much smoother now with the Chi, and it's less damaging. If you don't want to blow dry, make sure you use a smoothing serum at least. I've never used a good flat iron that was cheap.. I definitely think the more expensive ones are worth it (and yes I notice a huge difference).
