Has anyone been to an event like this before?

Last night I went to an event at the Bellevue Square Nordstrom (Bellevue, WA). It was similar to the other seminars they've had but this one was hands on instead of watch/listen/pass stuff around/take mad notes.

There were five of us at a table with a MA from the counter and the regional trainer was up front with a model going through all the products/techniques. We would go through each step and follow along applying everything ourselves with guidance and tips from "our" MA. It was a blast! We used:

Wipes
Fix+
Studio Moisture Fix
Strobe Cream
Fast Response Eye Cream
Prep+Prime Eye
A simple shadow look - Crease/Highlight/Lid
Smolder w/Black Tied to line the upper lashline
Mascara
Foundation (Studio Fix Fluid)
Concealer
Blush
Lips - Liner/Lipstick/Lipglass
190/168/150/239/224

After the main presentation our MA showed us how to "convert" the eyeshadow look we had done to a smokey eye. We all looked rockin' when we left and felt like a million bucks (we also felt a million bucks poorer too!)

As far as I know this is a new type of event for them and I hope they continue to do them because it was a ton of fun (only thing missing was some booze

). There was no prepay for this one BUT I think it's b/c it was last minute thing. They only found out about it 10 days before it happened, so I don't think they had time to prepare. I imagine future ones will have a prepay redeemable toward product.

If you have the opportunity to attend one of these I highly recommend it!

I went to a Smashbox event similar to that. Instead of everyone doing the same look they passed out magazine photos that we were supposed to use as inspiration. They had a million products laid out at each table for us to work with. It was really nice. I enjoyed it.

coachkitten - I usually deal with Allyson or Yvonne at the MAC counter at BelleSquare. They are both awesome and I will go out of my way to buy only from them since they take good care of me. They keep me notified about all the events which I previously had a problem finding out about consistently until I got to know those two. Tell 'em Jo sent ya!

I've done a Smashbox one similar to this and would love a MAC one. I think I'd be more likely to buy unfamiliar products being able to try them like this. I hope other Nordstrom stores do this.

I will! Thanks for the advice! I usually seem to run into the same MA who is so sweet but always seems a little frazzled. I will ask for Allyson and/or Yvonne next time I go there! Thanks again!

Actually I went to one like that at the Filmore store in SF about two years ago (with the trainer all the chicks love - Daniel) before I was an employee.
