Has your skin care regiment changed for Fall/Winter?

My skin has been acting funny lately. Some unexpected pimples on the chin here and there, and dry patch on the side of my nose. Is that normal for the fall season? What have you done differently with skin care to acommodate the season change?

My face gets terribly dry in the winter, especially since I just moved to a colder climate. I've been putting olive oil on my face and night, concentrating on the flakiest parts. It's helped tremendously.

I've never heard of that technique. I've heard of using vaseline though.

Yes, my skincare has changed.
I have normal/combination skin: in the summer, I prefer moisturizers with gel consistencies, but in the winter (canadian winter), I opt for richer creams that are formulated for combination skin. I also prefer using a creamier makeup remover. Right now, I'm really loving Vichy's skincare. My cheeks used to be extremely flaky, and my T-zone very oily, before transforming my skincare regime.
If you don't moisturise, your skin will flare up and pimples are inevitable. Also, sunscreen should be used all year round. Many people believe it's only useful in the summer. I've had many sun patches appear on my face, in the middle of february (and I live in Montreal, sunny weather here is rare!)

I switched from Proactiv to using Cetaphil cleanser (the one for oily skin) and instead of using heavy Lancome eye creams for around the eyes, I use just a bit of Aquaphor (also great for dry areas).

Since the beginning of the month I'm using a moisturizing (oil-free) night cream from Galenic to pamper my skin now that the weather has gotten colder.

My skin does change when the seasons do, and it gets dryer and flakier. For dryness, I switch to creamier products (from a gel facewash to a creme, lightweight lotion to heavier one, gel eye cream to lotion, etc) and for flakiness, body lotions with alpha hydroxy acids for exfoliation. I also manually exfoliate about 2-3 times a week for both face and body.

I also limit my showers to 15-20 minutes and turn the temp down a bit so my skin doesn't dry out even more from the hot water.

I also pay more attention to my feet, which tend to get even drier as well, using a synthetic pumice bar and doing the vaseline/lotion and socks thing.

I just wear a heavier moisturizer on my face, and have to use a thick bodylotion elsewhere after showering.

Huh. I never thought of that. In the fall and winter my skin gets flaky dry and sometimes it even cracks. Thank god for Neosporin. I use The Body Shop's hemp face moisturizer (works wonders!) instead of my usual one. Well, I still use my normal one when I just come back inside from being outside. I just pat it over my face to help it from getting too dry.
