or just go au natural? or TM with concealer? Also, if it's at an event will it be a MAC SA that I usually see doing it? or someone new? Sorry so many Q's, never had a makeover before, and I'm soooooooo excited

Don't wear any make-up because they'll just make you take it off ... and that'll cut into your make-over time. Depends on where you're going ... if it's a big counter/store or a busy counter/store they'll most likely have freelancers there doing the make-overs. Usually the regular counter/store staff is ringing up people's purchases. That's how they usually are here but ALL our locations are super busy.

I went to a MAC makeover at a Pro store the weekend after the Barbie line came out. I was very disappointed. While I was sitting there the Sales Person/Make-up Artist did not give me undivided attention. She helped several other customers during "my" time. When I commented that I thought I'd have her time, I was told that they're taught to multi-task. Glad I didn't pay for it.

If your makeover was by appt. then the artist should have given you her/his undivided attention for the hour you booked. The only way he/she can walk away from you is if your a walkup and didnt schedule an appt. either way she still has to make a verbal agreement as to stepping away. Maybe she was trying to make her goal or maybe she was misinformed as to the makeover appt. policy, either way sorry that happened to you.

If you make an appointment, do not wear make up. That cuts into your time like amoona said.

Also, if you are a walk up, please don't expect us to give you full attention, we can't.

that is exactly how it should be!! I get irritated b/c our counter is a BIG location and does so much business. We have big goals to make and it's hard if you're doing applications all day long! that's only $40 an hour! and usually our sales per hours are goaled at 100 or more... so it's hard. and our manager's always telling us to "step away. you need to step away more."
i'm not goign to step away from a customer, who's made an appointment with me in advance! and is planning on purchasing 50 dollars or more with me!
you don't make a hair appointment and then have the hairdresser say, "hold on one sec. lemme just match up a blonde color for her roots..."

The only time it's ok to step away is for "walk-up" appointments. if someone walks up, it's busy, and just wants their make-up done. we can do it, but we still step away. but not for booked in advance appointments.

I feel your frustration on this! I would be upset too. I feel like that's not right to be doing that

This is how it should be, but in all actuallity, even with an appointment, it cannot always be this way. Sometimes there will only be 2 or 3 artists on the floor so we have no choice but to step away....However, it is mandatory that the artist gets that "verbal contract" from the person sitting in their chair-walk in, or appointment. It's just common courtesy, really. We are also told that if a customer comes specifially to you to ask for help, you cannot just shoo them away (unless there is a bunch of people not busy or something)....at my location, we get in big trouble for this.

That all being said, I'm not about to step away to match someone's foundation or help them "pick out colors"...that customer will either have to wait until I am done or ask someone else to sit down with them, but if a customer comes to me, knowing what they want & just needing me to grab product & ring them out-then I will get that verbal contract, help the second person & get back to my appointment as quickly as possible.
