Heard a rumour about brush sets :(

When I was exchanging my studio fluid foundation yesterday (I'm allergic, sigh) I was told by my favorite MA that MAC isn't making brush sets anymore. She didn't know why, but the girl that works for product marketing said that last year was it and there wouldn't be more sets this year. That sucks, I love the brush sets. I hope it's not true.

I don't know - the brush sets are certainly more affordable, but usually not near the quality of the regular brushes.

I'm not a fan of the last couple brush sets. I mean its affordable, but i agree, they are nowhere near the quality of the regular brushes. I can tell a huge difference between my SE brushes and my regular brushes, and it's not a good difference. SE brushes are really stiff and don't pack on as much color as the regular brush. My 266SE brush is so hard, i don't use it for liner, it irritates my eyes so I have to use it for my brows because it's so stiff. As long as they still have the holiday pallettes and mini sets, I'll be fine.

do they? I really need to get one for a friend of mine who is just getting into make-up and doesn't want to spend a hell lot of money for brushes.

I know you have all the last mini brush sets! Are they crying all lonely and neglected in a dark corner in your house?

I'm not too bothered about them not bringing out new brush sets, i've only been into MAC properly for the last brush set release so i got one from those sets and i'm happy with that considering the price and expected lower quality but i'll be glad if they don't bring any more out so i'm not tempted to buy another again in future as i'd rather build up a full sized collection slowly.

The only thing I know is that they'll have 190, 168, 212, 252 and 194 brushes in it!

I want a 187SE!!!!

aww i love my lil' guys. true they are not the same quality as the larger counterparts they are great for travel, trying a brush style etc. plus i love the carrier mine is in(purple from 04' xmas I think) I stash all my misc brushes in there.
plus if i am using lots of colors and don't want to pollute my brushes I can have them handy, I don't have full sized duplicates of everything.
anyway, they are cute

Just think, if they no longer have the brush sets for Nordstrom's Anniversary sale and holiday they will probably come out with something better!! Maybe, more holiday palettes perhaps? Most of us here tend to buy the palettes, but how many brush sets does a person need? I'm happy to have my one for travel but that's all I need. I don't care how cute the brush sets are there's no need for me to buy them just to have them. I would much rather buy color.

are brush set brushes similar to the ones in the holiday palettes? cause those suck, lol. i have all full size ones, from mac and other high end brands, and i was thrilled when i realized all my holiday palettes came with 213s, but they're awful. they feel like applying makeup with a brillo pad.

That bites, that's what really got me into mac brushes in the first place. They're a lot better than my former walmart ones.

well, that's not cool, but on the other side, what if as said before they start making more LE se brushes? diana ones were pretty cool, and there's also a posibility that if they stopped selling brush sets with holiday collections, then there may be *other* sets coming, like last year's lipgelees... who knows, blushes, glimmershimmers, etc.

I havent heard anything about this, but ill ask about it tomorrow, i kinda like brush sets becuase its great for new to mac customers, its cool to start off with the basic brushes. But if it is true then thats cool too, i dont purchase em personally.
