heavy single asian eyelids...how to doo them?

so i update this post.
what can i do for this disastrous situation
winks.gif

1- two different shapes on the eyebrows (i was born with them like this). and i have a problem with them because the ends of the brows are lower than the beginning of them.

2- no crease what so ever, and the "wings" on the outer corner of my eyes- which make me look tired, angry and not so friendly. + the "wings" makes it more difficult to apply any type of makeup without looking like a c l o w n.

can someone help me???

yeah, i have seen her work. she´s amazing!!!

but the thing is, she really have a crease (even if the crease is small, it makes a Huge different).
+ she doesn´t have the "wings".

i think my eyes looks "heavier" than hers.
i wonder if her technics works on my kind of eyes...

can anyone give me a suggestion on what mac product i can buy to color my eyebrows?
i have black brows, but since they are not so many they look kind of greyish.

I feel your pain.

I assume that you don't like the fact that the outer ends of your brows are lower than the inner ends. I don't know if you're comfortable with it, but I'd probably pluck out the outer ends, starting at the area where your brows start drooping. Then, I'd use a dark brown eyebrow pencil to redraw the ends. You'll have to be careful with the brow pencil and not be heavy handed, otherwise the drawn-on part will look fake. I have to draw on the outer ends of my brows too, since my natural brows are too short.

As for fixing the inner ends since your left and right brows are different, I'd try a dark brown brow pencil and bring the inner end of your right brow closer to the center. Also, you might consider plucking a little of the inner-top part of your left brow to further bring balance to your face.

Oh, by the way, I have similar coloring as you and I like to use the Espresso eyeshadow to fill in my brows.

As for the "wings" of your eyes, I have that too though mine aren't quite as obvious. I think the best way to fix this is to use dark eyeliner to sort of reshape your eyes. You'll have to draw beyond the wings to lift your eyes.

This is a picture of my right eye. Sorry about the small size but it should give you the idea. As you can see, the blue part is the lined area that was drawn above the wing. This technique makes a huge difference for me. If I don't do it this way, my heavy lids make me look tired/sleep-deprived.

Hi!

Thanks for your advice and kind words!

I happened to pluck my brows before i saw your respond.
And of course they got u n e v e n (maybe i´ll post a pic later).
I´m thinking about to pluck the ends.

This weekend I´ll get some makeup and try your technic.
What do you think I should get to start with?

hi missfiction. while i don't have your eyes i agree with maywind and a few of her suggestions are actually what i was going to suggest:
1-bringing the inner end of your right brow to the center
2- 'reshaping' your eyes, using a liquid or pencil giving them some upward winged liner which will reshape your eyes, also using the same liner on the outer corner of the bottom, bring it up to meet the top line.. use a bright colored bottom liner to brighten your look.

can't wait to see what you tried!

Make sure to be really really careful when plucking your brows. Do it slowly and a little at a time so you don't accidentally over-pluck.

As for the actual makeup, I personally like to use:

Brows
  • MAC Espresso Eyeshadow for filling in (using the 266 brush)
  • Lancome Le Crayon Poudre in Sable for drawing the outer ends
Eyes
  • Lancome Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony for lining (upper lid and outer-corner of undereye so top and bottom lines meet, yummy411 was exactly right)
  • MAC Shroom Eyeshadow for browbone highlight and inner-corner undereye lining
  • MAC Crystal Avalanche Eyeshadow for inner 1/5 of upper lid that meets the undereye Shroom shadow (a tiny bit of Crystal Avalanche is enough to give your eyes the "pop", don't over-apply this one)
  • Use whatever you like for the remaining area of the upper lid that suits your coloring

Blue: MAC Espresso Eyeshadow
Orange: Lancome Le Crayon Poudre in Sable
White: Lancome Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony
Red: MAC Shroom Eyeshadow
Green: MAC Crystal Avalanche Eyeshadow

As for the rest of my upper lid on that particular day, MAC Steamy Eyeshadow right above the eyeliner and MAC Lovestone Mineralize Eyeshadow above Steamy. The Lovestone shadow wings up at the outer-corner.

My eyes are really similar to yours. I look around a lot for makeup tutorials but it's really important to just experiment and figure out what's right for you. I've been using a liquid eyeliner and wing it out a bit at the end, add some darker colors at the outer ends of my eyes, use a light color around the tear duct, and false eyelashes are really fun! Good luck, if I find a good link I'll send it your way. =]

Hi missfiction!

I have one double eyelid and one single eyelid [tired and puffy looking]. As many ppl have already mentioned, try eyeliner to "shape" those "wings". you will have to draw on the liner much thicker than you would for double eyelids or else the liner wont show at all. Draw the liner thick enough that you can see it when u open ur eyes... and "wing out" the liner at the end so they visually lift ur eye shape. I also wouldn't bother with dark eyeshadow since single eyelids tend to have a flat surface and dark shadow just makes them flatter.

I would be glad to post up a tutorial of makeup for single eyelid if you would like

Good luck.

Have you seen snowkei's Make Eyes Longer tutorial? I think that would be perfect for you. Once you make your eyes appear longer you can reshape the part that droops down and be able to open (lift) the end of your lids. You should really check that tutorial out - it's amazing and very simple to do I think! I hth!

I have the same problem! I have the "wings" as well.

Tip 1:
I find if I use bold colors, I can really make my eyes seem bigger than they actually are. I say Asian single-lid eyes are awesome because of this! You can use crazy bold colors and pull them off because the eyes are smaller! It will actually enhance the exotic shape and bring them into focus. It's so eye-catching.
winks.gif
And the plus with that wing? You can pile color onto there!

Examples:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...blondieeye.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...er/blondie.jpg

Tip 2: EXTEND COLOR ABOVE THE CREASE.
For a basic smoky, I line my eyes first with a gunmetal grey color (not all the way around or your eyes will look smaller, the top eyelid is completely lined, but the bottom is only lined half way in from the outer corner), then I sweep a slightly lighter gray from the eyelid up to above the crease. If you concentrate colors on the lid, they are guaranteed not to show up, so you must extend the color to above the crease. It might seem scary to put eyeshadow color all the way up there, but that is the only way they will show up on me. I promise you that it won't look that scary. Then you blend a highlight color under your eyebrows and into where the gray shadow ends. Then you can finish off with black shadow onto the lid and into the bottom outer lower eyelid and blended into the outer corner, wing out the black.

Here's an example:

You can add more color the smoky as well:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...eyesmakeup.jpg
Or color to the inner bottom corner of the eyelid really makes eyes pop as well!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...r/hotpink5.jpg

Tip 3: Do not completely line your eyes with eyeliner. You can completely line the upper lid and use wings if you want. But for the bottom eyelid, only line the outer half of your eyes. Your eyes will not only look longer, but lining this way will make sure your eyes don't look smaller. NEVER tightline. As in, never put eyeliner on your waterline, this will definitely make your eyes look smaller.

It's all about working with what you have, not wishing that you had a double eyelid. It took me forever to get make-up to look decent or even show up on me. If you keep playing with color, I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. In any case, I'm ashamed I linked so many pictures of myself, but I have no other pictures at the moment to show as reference. So I hope they're helpful somehow to you. =)

In any case, my only big wish for the double eyelid is so I can put a lighter shadow on the inner part of the eyelid, and a darker part on the outer half, but if you try that with my eyes, you can't even see the effect!

Good luck! =)

*EDIT* Oh gosh, I didn't realize how old this post was. D:

this is a very good topic.

i have double eyelids but the lids are not as abundantly sized as the gals from other ethnicities.

having heavy single eyelids is not a bad thing. just know what works best for you and work it!! you can have your own unique look and be different. unique beauty is awesome and know you're not alone~
