I really need advice on this one. I suffer from extremely dry lips. Doesnt matter what season my lips are always cracked and dry when I wake up. I have tried sooo many lip balms that claim to help dry lips but they dont. I like to put it on at night. I found this Aveeno intense relieft therapy balm for really dry lips and I would put it on at night and wake up and I swear my lips were like silk. But now it doesnt seem to work anymore? It seems as though im ammune to it or something because I would put this stuff on and wake up and my lips were just as bad as when I put it on =(

My question is: What is a reallly good lip balm for really dry lips? I want something heavy duty that will really work!!! I tried just about everything and nothing works good. I also tried exfoliating my lips but that doesnt work. I dont care what brand its from. I just need something really good. I know its out there!! PLEASEEEEE HELP!! anyone!!!! =(

I totally feel your pain. I have really dry lips all the time and lip balms to me are like deodorant - work for a bit then nothing!
That being said I use Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream at night and it is good. They also do a lip balm which is good for day time but the actually cream is much heavier for night.

Also I’ve started using Mac prep and prime for under lipstick instead of lip balm and its great. Moisturising but not greasy and slippy.
I'm using Mac lip condition in the tube which is ok but nothing to special.

I used to avoid wearing lipstick and gloss too much as it dries my lips but I find if I use prep and prime then lipstick and gloss it actually really helps to lock in moisture.
Hope this helps and good luck finding the miracle answer. I'll certainly be watching this thread with interest.

Also, make sure you drink tons of water. Water is such an under-rated skin helper!

Most people are actually dehydrated when they first wake up. The first thing you should do after waking up is drink a glass of water (or rather, the 2nd thing you do as the 1st should be to take a tinkle).

yes that's a definite MUST. when you increase your water, you should notice a difference in the dryness of your lips. what's suggested is 1/2 the number of ounces for how much you weigh. i dont know if that made sense. umm if you weigh 120 pounds then it should be at least 60 ounces of water a day. i'm using blistex DCT and it feels good while it's on there, but after it goes away my lips are just dry again. i tried aquaphor and i found that it still felt somewhat smooth after fading away.

I use Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. I've tried many lip balms as I live in Chicago where it is very cold and dry in the winter. This is the only one that has worked on my dry cracked lips. It has SPF 15 as well as blackcurrant oil and Vitamins A, C, and E. I apply it at night and again in the morning under lipliner and lipgloss.

I use Blistex relief cream, I get awful dry skin on my lips and it's like a miracle worker, it works literally over night.

I agree with putting vaseline! It helps heal cracked/rough heels and elbows so I'm sure it'll help your lips.

Also try to exfoliate your lips with a toothbrush or buy a lip exfoliator.. maybe that'll help?

I'm wearing Lip Fusion at night. It's so thick and emolliant, it worked better than my balms, and it doesn't tingle. Or lanolin. Lanisoh nipple creme (its pure lanolin) or NARS lip laquer (nearly all pure lanolin). Vaseline dries out my lips. I do drink alot of water. Water is the medium in which most chemical reactions occur (esp in your body).

I second on the pure shea butter! I use the small tin from l´Occitane with 100% shea butter, it has a bit of a sandy consistency to start with, so it´s good for exfoliating too. It has no smell and a pure feel to it, and it´s not meneral oil based like vaseline. I always put on some before going to sleep.

I have the same problem. I make sure to put Aveeno lip balm on every day and night and that seems to help.

First you should exfoliate your lips to get rid of the flaky dead skin. I use a moistened cloth or corner of the towel after showering, just rub my lips with it. That will remove all the dead skin. Then you def need to drink more water - one of the first signs of dehydration is dry mouth & lips. Also if your pee is very dark coloured, it means you're not drinking enough water. It could also be external factors like sun exposure, or a really dry, too-warm environment in your home.

Lipbalm will only help so much, you need to get to the root of why your lips are dry in the first place. The exfoliation and increase of water intake will really help, then just use a good lipbalm throughout the day.

I really like the one from Weleda.

I have to agree, keeping yourself well hydrated by drinking lots of water has been the one and only way in which I have seen consistent results for curing dry lips. Lipbalms are only a topical remedy and won't fix the problem from within.
