I'm completely new to mac and I have some questions. Pardon my ignorance.

So, is mac normally a night look? I just bought two eye shadows, one in "idol eyes" and another in "seedy pearl"

They just seem to plain compared to the looks here. I am not sure what kind of look I'm going after, either.

Is mac for a certain "type"? alternative look? I am so ignorant on this subject so please no flames!

Help a newbie out! thanks!

Personally, I think MAC can be all those things. I think they have enough of a range that they can be very versatile. That's why I like it.

no - MAC can be used for any type of look

Most people here enjoy doing lots of dramatic looks, but MAC has such a great range of colors and products that it can be used for any type of look. It takes a while to figure out what kind of look you're going for. I find looking at other people's looks and trying to recreate them helps to get my creative juices flowing and helps me to decide what I like and what I don't like on myself.

I don't own either of the eyeshadow's you have, but you just have to experiment with color combos adn see what you come up with. If you have a MAC counter near you you can ask a Makeup Artist there for some ideas on makeup looks? Also maccosmetics.com has a live chat that you can use and ask them for recs. for any products and they will even create little looks for you to try out and you can grow and change it up from there. Also on maccosmetics.com in the looks section on the top of the screen they have facecharts that I usually print out and practice doing w. diff. colors and products.

Also MAC can really be made day or night, or very neutral or very wild/alternative. I think almost all of there colors can be played way up or way down and thats what I love about them!
