Hey guys, again I hassle you for help with my course. Thanks to everyone who answered the power lipstick poll! I got a B+ for my animal/cosmetic testing themed sculpture - I know, kind of got away from the cosmetics & power idea! My new assignment continues from the first, so it's still on the same idea, animals & cosmetics testing. My tutor felt my sculpture was too obvious, and that I should create something that allows the meaning to sink in over time, rather than punch you in the face
Here's my final:
Detail shot:
I'm aiming for an A+ this time!
I was thinking of doing some working with cosmetics themselves - pressing eyeshadows and blushes with animal faces or paw prints - carving animal shapes from lipstick like these Brangelina sculptures:

Obviously not that detailed, but the medium will be a challenge. I even thought it would be awesome to turn my studio into a make up counter installation, so when my class walks in for critique they think they're at a make up counter and start oohing and ahhing at the make up.. and then look closer at some of them.. and think ooh the animals are cute... and then think some more, and eventually get to the point where they're thinking 'wow, some brands really do put this stuff on animals and that's not too nice'.
So here's what I need help with:
I've been checking out the pigment pressing tuts' and I'm going to give that a go, but I wanted to know if anyone had any advice on how to imprint anything into the product, like the Hello Kitty MAC stuff. Also, I don't want to ruin my own make up for this assignment, so I'll be using cheap & nasty $2 shop stuff - how should I repress these? Should I shatter them then repress them with alcohol? Or just imprint over them?
I'm not sure how to integrate items like mascara, foundation etc other than animal themed packaging - any suggestions?
I'm planning on buying some sculpting tools for the lipsticks. When I melted lots of cheap ones for the sculpture, some of them blackened really fast when I used a lighter, what else could I use to soften and aid with the modelling process without burning them?
I think that's everything... thanks in advance for any suggestions!
EDIT:
Almost forgot! If I go with the make up counter thing, I'll need to get super cheap quads/palettes, and possibly quite a few of them. Can anyone recommend anything? Preferably online/shipping internationally. I figured I'd get pans from TKB Trading.
