Help! How do I make the e/s "v"?

Usually I use a medium shade of a shadow along my entire crease, but I've seen people use a shade halfway across the crease and along the lashline, forming a "v," if that makes sense. How does one do this, and what is the best brush to use? Will it work on smaller eyes?

I personally love using the 222 for the outer V. The 217 & 224 would work just as great as well. Try any of those!
