Help me! I'm an eye makeup ignoramus. :(

I've got medium-dark brown hair, fair skin, and brown/green eyes (not really hazel...more like brown with a little green in it, kind of like olive). I don't know anything about how to pick colors. I know some things about how to apply, but here's the trick. I'm a student, and I don't like to spend a lot of time or money on makeup...I'm basically looking for a quick routine that I can do before class. I don't have a good current photo, but below is a photo from a few years ago (it's my senior portrait from high school, which is why it looks so goofy). My hair is shorter now and I have different glasses (burgundy plastic frames), but that's pretty much what I look like. Help me?

i think something neutral would be best, because you can wear the same look daily and never worry about it matching or not.

rimmel's orion eyeshadow trio is really good for a neutral look. it comes with a sponge tip applicator that has two different sides. you can use the round side to apply the medium colour to your lid and the lightest colour directly under your eyebrows and the thin side to apply the darker colour to your crease and blend with a brush, q-tip or your fingers.

You could also add some deep olive green to your neutral routine (on the lid or in the crease, depending on the look you're going for). Olive goes with lots of things but can add some color and interest to your look. I haven't looked at Rimmel shadows in a while, but I had a Rimmel olive (it was a single shadow) that I loved a few years ago. Sorry; I don't recall the name, but it was a pearly midtone olive that was not too yellow and not too dull.

I suggest MAC Shroom...it's enough to make your eyelids look polished and pretty, it's very user-friendly as well because it's easy to blend and requires minimum effort to look good, most colours look nice blended in to it aswell. It's a pale frosty beige colour with some warm pinky undertones.
I can imagine dark forest greens and violets looking nice on you too.
