Help! MU for work _fashion store_ I'm clueless

I finally got my first retail job. *happy-dance*

I'm working at a hip fashion store... trendy but not super expensive. Clothing wise I can wear whatever i choose just no sweats.

What should I do for my makeup? I'm a basic mascara and lipgloss girl... how do i venture into the whole "i work at a fashion store" look without being too much? And I have to say eyeshadow intimidates me sometimes =.="

Any good suggestions? Specific products would be great too, since now I have an excuse to go MU shopping again!

PS>>> Why is it ok to wear flip-flops but not sneakers?

Congrats on the new job! I dont think your employers are expecting a certain 'clothes store' look for make up, I'd really go with what you feel most comftable with to start of, if you'r going to be wearing it all day.

Its hard to know what colours would look good without knowing what you look like, but you could try something like a 'mild' smokey effect, using lighter/darker shades to contour your eyes without it being too strong for work.OR use a poppin/bright colour to line under the lashline (bottom only)

Thats pretty much what I do for work, some smokey eyes, mascara (benefit bad gal lashes is good for this!)UDPP,blot powder foundation, and blusher/msf. If you can still get em', the mac '3d' lip gloss range had some fantastic colours.
hth ? :S

How does everyone else in the store do their makeup? I'd look to them for cues on acceptable shoes, etc. I wouldn't wear flip flops, unless they're the dressy kind, like made out of leather, and you have great looking feet.

If you don't have time to observe, I'd wear dark eyeliner, a simple sweep of a shimmery color on the lids, mascara some foundation or powder to even out your skin, and go with a darker shade of lipstick. Lipstick is an easy way to look more polished and it won't be a huge stretch for you. Good luck!

I would go with a polished face, some blush, a shimmery color on the lids if you don't want to go through the hassle of going through 3 different eyeshadow colors on your lids before going to work, liner and mascara. Maybe invest on a eyelid primer to make sure your makeup stays flawless throughout the day and top it off with some nice lipstick and a bit of gloss.

However, depending on the type of clothes the store sells and the season, your makeup should change as well, perhaps incorporating the season's trend, this Fall seems to go for smoky eyes and bold eyeliners, full brows, neutral lips and shy blushes, maybe you could experiment.

Maybe they think flip flops mean something nicer than the standard Old Navy kind? Or they're afraid of sneakers looking messy?
