HELP! Mystery Pigments (would like to know the colors)

Does anyone own any pigments that look like these? And does anyone know what colors these might be?
The "old school" jars (the fact that the text is not Left Justified) means that they're from an old collection & the MA at MAC agrees & said she can't put her finger on the name of the collection so I really need your help... please. I would really appreciate it =)

The purple pigment looks like Viz-A-Violet or just the Violet. I don't know about the pink one there. The NYX ones has to be Lime and Sky Pink (I think).

Sorry to say, but those are fake Mac pigments

Authentic pigments will always have a color name at the bottom of them (though that's not always an indication that they are authentic).

I got them in a swap as extras on MUA bc the girl said that her cousin (that works at MAC) had given them to her bc she had too many. She said her cousin had taken the labels off & stuck them on her organizer & just forgot to give them to her a long time ago so now she doesn't even have the labels anymore... idk. She did mention that they were from some old MAC collection & coincidentally the MA at MAC said the same thing *shrugs*.

honestly these are fakes, i have real ones purchased at a mac store and one pigment that i bought off ebay at a bargain price that looks like this.

if you compare the 2 the real ones writing is left justified and the text is slightly smaller. hate to say it but these are fakes.

If you compare them to real mac pigments you will find the quality is nowhere near the same!

I have a friend that has pigments from a few years ago, she bought her's at a MAC Store herself & her jars look just like mine. The Left Justified ones are the newer bottles, those came out later, the old ones are Centered.

Can u post color swatches for the 2 pigments?

I own around 100 pigments and i cant find a match for the purple looking one (i assume that one is a big time fake) but the blue one might be bell bottom blue..

The jars kind of look fake to me though, the bottom of the jar looks extremely extremely thick.

Sorry, these are definitely FAKE... the text alignment has nothing to do with it since we have seen BOTH centre and left aligned text on faked jars.... I should also tell you that OLD pro pigments ALSO had left aligned text, so its absolutely not a generalisation that only centre aligned jars are old batches. Incidentally the same thing applies to glitters.

Anyway the thickness of the base of the jars is what gives it away honey... No real MAC jar that I have ever seen, even jars pre-dating 1998 - have ever had a base that thick. Your swapper has sent you fakes, sorry, perhaps it was unknowingly however...

**BTW, thanks to everyone that has responded, even though I think some ppl are giving somewhat mean responses. There are nice ways to say things.

The blue one has a purple-ish undertone & is also more shimmery than the pinkish pigment.

To be honest unfortunately MUA is not always a place of trust, whether people know their products are genuine or not varies, so sometimes a fake product can be passed on unknowingly. I guess if they were extras in the swap though you didn't lose out, which is something to be thankful for!

The pigments do look a little suspect to me aswell, I don't think anyone is trying to be mean about it they're just giving their opinion on what they see. The thick bases first of all, the lack of colour identification labels (despite what your swapper may have told you), the spacing between the letters on the back label also doesn't ring true for me, plus the font on the blue jar looks slightly bolder than usual. The only other confirmation would be the lettering (if not present another bad sign...) and style of the inside stoppers.

Sometimes I think potentially inexperienced MAs at MAC wouldn't actively be able to tell the difference between authentic and counterfeit unless it was blinding obvious or they were actively looking for information on the subject, such as on Specktra. Because fakes are scarily similar to the real thing these days... the MAs at my local counter are very knowledgable but I doubt even they would give a fake pigment a second glance.

I'm not sure if they're fake or not but here's my opinion:

the mac blue/purple one looks like either cornflower or naval blue... I'm more inclined towards the cornflower

The NYX's = deff. Lime and the pinky one could be either baby pink or lilac.

Hope it helps!!

Thank you Natalie! I just think that there are correct & incorrect ways to phrase things is all. Some ppl respond a bit harshly I believe, but at any rate, Thanks for all the help. I really don't mind that they may be fake. Esp. since, like you said, they were extras in a swap =D Thanks again.
