Hi I am about to do my first mac online order.

I have never bought any Mac make up before and it is very hard for me to get to a counter as the nearest is miles away from me.

I am planning on buying mostly eyeshadows, I want to stick to my safe colour of brown at the moment, what do you think of the following eyeshadows?

Woodwinked
Antiqued
Smut
Mulch
Shroom
Brun
Wedge
Espresso
Tempting
Texture
Satin Taupe

Also what brush do you recommend for doing the crease of the eye?

Thanks

Honestly, I think you've got some colours in there that if you have one of them, you don't really need the other.

Like Mulch & Antiqued & Tempting are all kind of similar... There might be some others that are similar but I'm not familiar with all the colours.

I would just get maybe a few of those you listed, and branch into some other colour regions as well.

If you like browns, I would suggest get some nice golds and maybe some peaches and reds as well. And I'd also suggest you get at least 1 neutral.

I like Expensive Pink, Coppering, Jest and Shroom, and I can imagine those colours would go really well with the other things you bought.

I'd def get Woodwinked though.

I agree with MissChevious, get some things that will compliment the browns, and definately get Woodwinked! For the crease, I would recommend getting the 217 blending brush.

Brun and Espresso are very similar to me. I bought both and have onlyswatched the Brun once b/c it's so much like Espresso. If you were closer and shippng wouldn't be so expensive probably I'd just give the Brun!!

I'd suggest Retrospeck as a nice goldish colour that looks great with Tempting or Mulch./

Thanks everyone. I haven't done my order yet as I am still trying to make up my mind.

I am now thinking of getting a few pigments aswell. Do you just apply these like you would normal eyeshadow?

do you use a base for your eyeshadow? I find they stick better having a base to hold on to. I have my pigments sitting turned over (so gravity pushes the pigments to the lid) and then when I want to use one, I turn it over, open it, and usually there's some stuck to the little plastic insert (what I call the lid) and thats where I take the pigment from. I push my brush into the lid, tap on the side of the black lid so the excess falls back onto the plastic lid insert and then apply. This way there's less fallout on your face.

My smoke signal matte pigment doesn't stick to the plastic insert so I just dip into the container and again tap against the edge so the excess falls back into the pigment jar.

If you are new to pigments, there are many threads here about the ones people love! Many recommend Vanilla and Melon but of course it depends on what you like wearing! Good luck!

Oh and I missed answering one of your earlier questions:

The brush I like to use for my crease is the 219 and to blend stuff out I like the 275.
