As I already said, Im not 100% bilingual... and I need your help (please)

I was looking around on a website and there was a little flash animation and one of the character said this :

''It's not like we're picking china patterns''

Can somebody help me find out what it means?

Thanks a lot

Here, you pick out china patterns when you are getting married. I am guessing that the picture was trying to express a lack of commitment in the relationship. And off topic, I wish I could speak another language as well as you. I can only speak english.

It means basically like "at least we're not getting married" or you know, moving towards that type of commitment. Like when a couple registers at a store and picks out what type of dishes they want for their new home.

Make sense?

Shawna, we live in the same country...

I had to learn english since elementary school, so I know about it... but since I don't really speak it everyday, sometimes I have to use a dictionnary hehehe

This is the website where I took the ''phrase'' http://www.smokersedge.com
I'm not making any advertising for this product by the way, because I would'nt recommend it anyway.

I work for a quit smoking help line and my boss asked me what was that expression...

So, thanks to you

Believe it or not, I could speak fluent french in high school when I had to learn it. I always got top marks and was even offered a chance to go to a french immersion school, but once I left high school and didn't use it, I lost the ability to speak it

I really regret not keeping it up, but if I ever move to Montreal I am hoping I will pick it up again. That cartoon was cute....

Yeah thats the point
When you don't ''use'' the language, you lose it

I want to go to BC one day
Actually, if I had friends or such over there, I'd go next week
I want to visit the rest of Canada, it is soooo big and beautiful, I have to see it with my own eyes!!
