ok firstly, your idea of a smokey eye is great, the shape and everything suits your eye shape so dont change any of that. Don't stress too much about lashes because for one: everything is too dark to worry about definition in your lashes, they aren't going to be seen, and 2 if you're really desperate for lashes, flasies on top look great with a smokey eye (though very dramatic..) and for my ballroom dancing partner i use falsies on the bottom too, (which looks VERY dramatic, though totally awesome on the dancefloor!)
One thing i would DEFINATLEY recommend is eyeliner....i don't know about other people but i think it's very hard to make a smokey eye look good without eyeliner, it just makes it look SOOO much better, and makes it look like its MEANT to be smokey, not gothic...(does that makes sense? lol)
Definatley line your inner rims all the way round (obviously not on the top inner rim...unless u want to poke ur eye out)heavily with a good waterproof eyeliner. I totally recommend Prestige Waterproof. It's cheap, you can get it at chemists and lasts the longest than any other i've ever tried - especially on the inner rim.
I line the inner rim with eyeliner first BEFORE any black eyeshadow, so i then can build up the intensity around the eyeliner according to how dark i want.
Also (sorry im in a picky mood!?) i recommend a more natural highilight, and a more shimmery one also for your brow bone, as a flat white one like you've used there is too harsh against the black, for public anyhow. I don't know much about MAC e/s so i can't really rec one to you, but any nude shimmery highlight kind of e/s would look better than a matte white.
Sorry for babbling!
Hope it helped
