Hi all, I am new to using MAC eyeshadows and I must say they are becoming an addiction of mine! LOVE them! Sadly, I am clueless when it comes to a few other products. First of all, I have been using BE mineral makeup and at first it wowed me but it really makes me itch in this heat and it constantly shines ... I like a little shine but not so much that I am needing to powder my nose every hour. I am trying Everyday Minerals but so far all of the shades make me look chalky. I would love a powder and foundation in one, are there any you recommend? I have heard that MAC has one but many complain that it makes them break out? Do they give out samples? Other products I need help with are concealer and primer ... is primer really necessary? And concealer is mainly for under the eyes, right? Which form is best, and are any at the drugstore OK or should I invest in something pricier? I don't mind spending money on a product worthwhile but if there is something just as good at the drugstore I would rather not waste money. Thanks for any help at all, I feel like a new student! I am 31 and feel like I have done my makeup wrong for years.

hey, there. this is just my opinion, but if you want to continue to use mineral makeup, you might give Meow Cosmetics (meowcosmetics.com) a try. I could not wear BE well, either, and I found Meow and love it. They also have a concealer which is the best I have ever tried, and I have tried quite a few. It may seem a little spendy but the sizes are extremely generous. Also you can order samples very inexpensively. The range of shades is so good that you will probably find a match. They also have a message board where you can post a pic and have someone help you find your match.

About the need for primer, concealer, etc: you may find that primer can help control shine, in some cases even out skintone, and give you a nice canvas for your foundation. If you have nothing to conceal, then you don't need concealer.

But if you have any undereye circles, or blemishes, it can be really helpful.

The various tutorials around here are quite good. Just relax and have fun with your makeup. Start with the basics, and then branch out a little at a time if you feel overwhelmed!

Hope this helps.
