I'm having trouble with this as well. I have Naked Lunch and Shroom, but I'm not that impressed with either one. I'd like to try some more smoky eye looks with burgundy, black, green, blues, etc. A MAC MA said I could use concealer one shade lighter than my skin for a highlighter. That technique works, but sometimes I want a subtle shimmer on my browbone. I hope we can get some good ideas in this thread. For me, it's fine if it's a non-MAC highlighter.

what brow highlight look are you going for? some people like their's to be opaque and seen vividly. some people just want that subtle highlight (like me) when i first used shroom (i'm nc35/7) i was thinking "eck! why the heck is this so popular??" it was a dirty, off white, chalky color, but then i used it with my #217-fluffy blending brush (just a swipe or two) and put it on as my highlight.. it's perfect! a bare shimmer... you can't really tell it's there until the sun catches it and it puts sophisticated into your eye game *wink* lol... try your colors like that before giving up on them (if that's the look you are going for) good luck!

I use Ricepaper and Vanilla pigments for my highlighter. Vanilla pigment is very versatile!!!! you can use it everywhere not just your lids.

oh yah!! definately go for the vanilla. It is one that I do not regret buying and use almost everyday..Oh i know i recommended Ricepaper but you mention you wanted a bit of a shimmer and not matted...if you can get your hands on one. Look at the counters for Magic Dust..it's softer than vanilla..but shimmery than ricepaper!! it was from the Barbie loves Mac collection!! I use this all the time!!! LOVE it..though i now wish I did buy more!!

lightscapade msf/vanilla pigment. those are my top picks for a non-over the top sparkle for a brow highlight. I use lightscapade more often though.

wait for me! sorry if it's late, but i'm nc40-42, and these are the colors i use to highlight:

ricepaper
naked lunch
sea myth (which is LE but you might want to check out vex bc it
is supposedly the most similar)
sweet lust
retrospeck
motif (lightly)

what i like about these colors is that they are versatile and can be used on the lid, too.

with honeylust, i like to wear mulch, or i like to bring in a blue/green color, like a teal like steamy
