Holiday etc brush sets

How practical are these? I've never seen one in real life and i've never heard of people even using them. Do most people buy them for the prettyfull cases and the novelty or can they really be usefull aswell? I admit i'm drawn by the prettyness of the bags coming out but i also want them as it'd be conveninent if i could save money and get good use out of the bruses that come with it.
Also the bags coming out almost look like evening bags/purses, would they be practical to permentantly store the brushes in? ( they're probably made to store them well inside i'm guessing) and would people then carry the brushes around in that if they ever go somewhere or is it the kind of thing that wears off after awhile and people end up just keeping them in the purse and keep it looking pretty or take out the brushes and store them elsewhere and use the bag seperately.

I'm just curious as to wether it's the kind of thing i would use well.

The tailormade set was my first brush set purchase and I admit I don't use the bag much unless I am travelling with them. I might get one of the new holiday brush sets, I can't decide but if you are getting them just for the cute back you might want to get one of the lip sets instead.

Before my massive brush obsession began late last year, I bought one of the holiday brush sets (the one with 129, 213, 224, 242, 266, and 316) when they came out, and I found them extremely useful. They aren't the same quality as the regular brushes, but still decent, and the sets are usually pretty well rounded in what kinds of brushes are included. Now, I pretty much use the set for travel and touch ups. I don't know how much extra room is going to be in the new brush set bags, but the ones from Adorn last year were really nice, because you can fit a few shadows in the bag to touch up on the go.

I bought the Tailormade brush set and I love the brushes. The little box-bag thing I only use to store them in and to travel. But if I need a brush alone, I'll just plunk it in another bag. for the price, it's worth it.

Is the difference in quality that noticable? I was planning on buying one for my sister as her starter kit...

There are definitely differences in the brushes. I have a couple full-sized versions of the ones I have in the set, and they do look and feel different, but they are still really nice brushes and would be a good starter set!

I was told by a MA yes. As a starter kit no problem, but if you want the good quality ones, buy them individually. They are also have shorter handles if I remember correctly.

I like them because you can use them at home and take them with you in the case. My full size brushes are harder to take. I feel the brushes are of good quality..but not always equal. Like the 266 brush the full size is very thin at the end..but the gift set brush is a bit thicker..not as good for thin lines. but its still a good price for a set of mac brushes. you get a set for what 2 or 3 cost....

The brush set in my opinion are really worth it. They are great to grab when your on the go. I found when I took my regular ones they always got dented (the brisels) and makeup all over my bag because the brushes are too big for my makeup bags. Excellent too for a starter kit because they aren't too expensive and the quality isn't horrible like other ones you can get and hurt your face when you use them. I bought my holiday set 4 years ago and it's still in very good condition.

I only own the ones in the sets, the full size brushes are way too expensive. I carry my makeup every where I go, the small brushes are more convenient to carry around. The quality must be good because unlike some other brands of inexpensive and/or reasonably priced brushes, the fibers don't fall off and end up all over my face.

I bought a set last Christmas and have found they work really well for everyday use. The fibers are soft yet durable. I intended to start with the holiday kit and add brushes as the need would arise, but found the kit was sufficient for my needs. You may need a seperate foundation brush and liner brush, but I am quite happy with mine.

the brush sets are a really good "starter set" IMO. You're better off getting 5 brushes for $42 (I'm just estimating; I heard that was the approximate cost for the Stashettes) rather than paying $100+ if you're buying all 5 brushes seperately.
