Honestly, I am annoyed....warning: rant ahead

How hard can it be to set up a freaking online MAC store that can ship to other countries within Europe? You would think that Estee Lauder is such a huge company that they could get their bloody act together and ship their damn products to other countries as well, besides Germany and the UK. If there are e-retailers that ship stuff from the USA all the way to Europe, and this is like tiny companies like mineral makeup or brush companies, how the hell can it be that a company like Estee Lauder can't get themselves organized to have a European website where they can ship the product to the neighbouring countries as well? Sure, the main countries in Europe have the online ordering, but the smaller countries do not. If they can't have more freestanding stores and locations, at least set up a propper blingin' webshop!! Is this really that difficult?? Click on the damn lipstick, put it in your shopping cart, go to check out with your credit card, and bam - done! And no, I don't want to have to call long distance and then pay an exorbinant surcharge for shipping to place an order from Germany.

Seriously, this cannot be so hard!! I am so frustrated. I don't even have a MAC counter anymore here (although hopefully a new location will re-open soon because I am getting very impatient), and I'm having to either order through other people now, or trawl through the CB. Which is great, I mean I am getting a lot of great deals that way. But it shouldn't be this hard to buy MAC products, it should be easy and attractive to the customers.

I's just beyond annoying that we have to first of all pay like double the price for MAC here compared to N. America, and we get about a quarter of the service here in Europe. We don't even get the damn postcards here! And sometimes the stores don't even have all the fun promotional stuff in their stores.

Seriously, I am just fed up of constantly getting the short end of the stick. On the one hand I feel like we're being ripped off, and on the other hand we're not given good customer service. There has been one European collection, to my knowledge.

OK, yes, this post does have a sense of entitlement, but honestly, when you are paying that much for the same MAC products, I think we in Europe should be given the same service at the very least.

Rant over. Phew, I just needed to get that out of my system.

Please feel free to add your thoughts...

I agree, even if I buy most of my MAC items via eBay, but we need a site as you described it in your post.
I don't even figure out yet how they release collections here in Italy.
Moreover, days ago I purchase my second Blacktrack (I finished my first one after a year and few months :>), it was 16 euros, 25 $ :^\
And euro is stronger than dollar! >:¬[

I can't see why they couldn't just have one European site where you pick your currency then they just ship to the whole of Europe.

Don't get me started on the prices, I often go on the American site and add all the stuff I want to a basket then see how much it is converted from dollars. I could get so much more of my money if our prices were cheaper.

I really wish they would have the same prices for all the Euro countries. The differences really annoy me! I'll look up the Euro price here on Specktra before I go to the store to make sure I bring enough money and then get there and realise I'm short cos the prices here are different.

A website that ships all over Europe would be nice, but there's a MAC counter a ten minute walk from my house, so I can't really complain there.

You are so right.....!!! I live in The Netherlands and there no online mac store here! I do have a counter just 20 minutes away but many girls here don't, there are only 5 Mac counters/stores here...

That's why I've started my own shopping service, I have an adress in the USA and I can order on the USA Mac website!! So I have the cheap prices and I have the new collections pretty soon....

To save on shipping expenses I also buy stuff for the girls of my make-up forum, so everyone is happy here!!

I just ordered lots and lots of neo sci-fi & solar field stuff which I hope I will receive in just a few days!

I looked at that, getting one of those mail services, but the ones I saw were really expensive, like an annual fee. What service are you with and how much does that cost? I buy a lot of stuff online and a lot of it comes from the States...

i agree they are massive company and they should get their arses in gear, as they are missing out on a lot of revenue. If you are ever stuck for products, i can cp stuff for you, although uk is much dearer than the usa. I would have chained myself to the MAC shop if it was closing lol x

Well, I use Myus.com and it works just great! I pay an annual fee from about $ 60,-- a year, you can let your packages come in and they will combine anything before they ship it out to you. This is off course great with small stuff (like make-up)....you can ship whenever you want, ones a week of ones a month, it doesn't matter!

They use DHL for shipping so shipping is quite expensive (but very fast, I receive most packages withing 4 days!), for a package of 3 LBS the price is approx. $ 40,00. Check their website for more information! But I can tell you that it's a great and very fast service!

I'm happy to help you out if you want to order something in the USA....shipping expenses within Europe are not very expensive!

I totally agree, this is my one gripe with the brand! Not only in terms of pricing, availability, delivery etc but also all the extras that I come across on the US site - I think, why cant we have that?!?

For example under the Picks section they have Summer Style (check it out!) which gives more to the customer in terms of what products to use to achieve certain looks, they have Faves and also Goodbyes -the EU one only gets Faves.

I also find that it misses things like Bestsellers, which would be great for newbs... they are the sections I go to first when I visit other brand websites. Its all pretty basic and do-able stuff and I'm still baffled as to why the UK/EU is still playing catch up with the US on so so many things!

I mean the great thing about MAC being part of the EL bureau is that it can get a great cash injection to open more stores and counters and even to sort out a comprehensive online facility in the electronic era we live in!

I am going to start getting stuff from the US MAc site and getting my friend in NY to post it to me - it will still be cheaper than getting it in the UK and added bonus of getting new collections quicker!

I couldn't agree more. My thoughts exactly, with all the ranting included!

I am from Slovenia where we don't have MAC AT ALL(!!!)
thmbdn.gif
, no stores, no counters, and of course, no online shipping. Which means that girls here drive for a few hours to Austria to get MAC stuff, but who will pay for the gas/petrol costs?

I'm quite lucky to have a british boyfriend so if I want something from the perm line I buy it at the airport in London (no MAC in his town either) and luckily get 15% off because of the Duty free zone and if I want a LE thing I order it from MAC UK website to my bf's address and his mum (THANK YOU LESLEY
th_sign_woot.gif
!!!) ships it to Slovenia.

But seriously, like you said - it shouldn't be this bloody hard to get MAC stuff. Sometimes you're just not bothered because of all the long procedure you have to go through to get one flippin' lipstick.
I love MAC but some of their policies are just strange.
