Actually, they do look like slightly exaggerated versions girls I've seen---at the bus stop, backpacked, kicking rocks with their Reeboks. I just would've used more everyday-type clothing for the ad.

*Doesn't* anyone spellcheck important things like PSAs anymore? You'd think fighting for a cause would mean wanting to project the best possible image, which would include things like a really quick and simple spellcheck.

And yeah, those are awkward-looking. That first one almost looks like a dude in drag 'cause of the weird neck-to-head-to-body proportion. Honestly though, I think comparing something like a 19 year old sleeping with a consenting 15 year old (however misguided that consent might be) to outright pedophilia is more than a bit extreme, and may or may not be a bit of an insult to victims of actual pedophilia, but eh. It's *meant* to be extreme, that's for sure.

These are a bit disturbing.
Reminds me a bit of the NSPCC (I think) ad we had in Britain a while ago picturing a young girl in underwear sitting on the edge of a bed, with 'aged' features ie wrinkles n greying hair... captioned something like 'abuse damages / ages children'. Again, disturbing.

Oh god, those remind me of some photos I saw at an Art Gallery at Track 16 in Santa Monica a few years ago. The photographer was some English guy, I think his last name was Kennedy and he specialized in selling photos of everyday people in awkward or ugly positions. One photo was of a young girl without a shirt on sitting on a bed. I found it so disturbing and I couldn't view these photos as "art". I do think there is a difference between good art and great art and just because the "artist" calls something art doesn't mean it is. Sometimes it's just ugly crap hanging on a wall....

Wow, that is definitely something. Unfortunately, I dunno if it would really be effective at deterring the activity...

That's not far off from how young girls today look anyway. I cannot even fathom being as old as some young girls I see and wearing the crap they do. They seem to be developing earlier and uh, the majority of young girls seem to want to flaunt their goods. It's pretty gross. Whether they are having sex or not, their clothing looks like an invitation (not that it is, but it's extremely revealing and slutty) or a statement that, 'Yes, I am sexually active.'

But like duckduck says, I'm not sure how effective these will be at deterring sex with minors. No campaign is strong enough, unfortunately, to prevent early sexual activity. It's embedded into this generation of kids and teens. It's 'normal' (not necessarily meaning 'good') for people to have sex younger and younger these days.

Wow. Please don't tell me you believe this. Sometimes the revealing clothing says nothing more than, "I'm too 'big' for Limited Too, so I just went over to Express instead." Also, keep in mind that the clothes marketed to preteen girls are about the same as what's marketed to adult women, give or take some sequins and suggestive phrases. You put a 12 YO girl already carrying DD breasts in a tank top that says "Hannah Montana" and men will still gawk.

Maybe I'm naive, but I would rather look at kids as kids who are not having sex until I know them/know otherwise.

It definitely serves its purpose though. I saw those pictures and felt uncomfortable- especially when I saw the little girl in the pigtails. IMO, it's got a dual-purpose.

It reminds guys that age DOES matter and it reminds parents that there ARE people who prey on small children out there. Just because they have the body of an adult doesn't mean they have the maturity of one.

Very effective. I say bravo to whoever came up with it.

Disturbing yes. I don't think that it will get the point across to the right people though. It focuses so much on what is assumed to be physically "sexy" as being physically mature (and what our reaction should be to that) that it misses the entire category of people who go after girls or women because they aren't mature or developed.
