How do you keep track...

Do you ever get overwhelmed when you go to the counter to buy L/S or E/S? I have so many that I forget what I have and what I dont. I walk in with a list of a few and then I always think I need others to go with them or that just catch my eye.

Is there any good way to keep track

as dorky as it is, i make a shopping list type thing and bring it in with me. sometimes i also print off a list of the shadows or lipsticks i already have and stick it in my purse so that if something catches my eye (because i always seem to be drawn to the same solors), i can check if i already own it or not.

I just go into a mac counter and ask if they have my e/s. If they do then I will buy it. If they don't then I will wait around a little bit to see what e/s I want. Thx

I go in with a printed copy of my inventory as well as a list of the items I'm interested in buying. Sadly, this doesn't really keep me from accidentally buying doubles.

I don't have that many lipsticks, so i don't know the names of those. so i keep a list of my lipsticks and lipglasses.

but i know all of the eyeshadows i have. hehe.

well mac should have you in there computer especially is you go there a lot. usually when you buy something they put in your inventory in their computer so you ask one of the ma's next time to make sure your in there then whenever you buy something make sure they ring it up under you then it will show that you bought it.

so then if you see something you like you can ask them to check if you have already bought it or not.

I was at a MAC counter yesterday to pick-up the E/S brush recommended in a thread. Well lo' and behold, I left my credit card there. I only noticed it was missing because I was looking for it today. I wanted to buy Pink Floyd's The Wall CD. Well after calling my bank to see what the last transaction was I remembered where I left it.

I called the store and the MAU remembered me. He said they tried to see if I was still in the area of the counter but I had left. I told him I would come and get it but to make sure I didn't buy anything. He said he would. LOL. Anyway I ended up buying one e/s, Woodwinked.

Excel spreadsheet. I have a list of all of my m/u and another of wishlist items. I often buy things that are not on my list, but usually I remove something when I see it in real life. It balances, right?

I have a mental overview on my MAC stuff at home and on the stuff on the counter! The MA mostly are always excited to see if I can find the new stuff! I mostly do...

They only put you in the system if you have a regular MA that you buy from. Usually, they'll offer to put you in their "book."

If anyone is not in someone's book, then ask!

I'm pretty sure that they will put you in the system as long as you ask. For the most part, they automatically start putting everyone in there, to track spending trends, etc for regular customers, and to make sure customers that buy a lot don't resell them. It's actually beneficial for the company to keep a profile for customers.

You're not alone, hon. I have way more books and CDs than I do makeup but I've never bought doubles. I just...remember. Shame I can't use that talent for anything else other than being a super-spy. You know, how they remember if anything in certain rooms have been moved? That's me 8)

I am the exact same way!!! But I do keep track of it on my computer so when I get low I know what to replace before it runs out.
