How do you travel with your MAC?

I'm not talking what train case you use here. I mean, really, what do you take with you? I live at my boyfriend's house and at my parent's house, and due to refusing to ever leave the house and go to work not looking gorgeous, I haul practically ALL of my makeup with me in my traincase. Granted, I have a small 1200 dollar or so collection (thanks to some recent hauls) but still...

I do have favorites and more oftenly (is that a word?) used product, but I guess my biggest annoyance is if I go somewhere and don't bring it all with me, and think "Dammit, I REALLY wish I had PRINT with me"

I also visit my dad in Pennsylvania frequently and let me tell you, my traincase NEVER gets checked at the airport. It's part of my carryon! But it's so annoying that my personality deems it so that I must haul EVERYTHING with me.

What do YOU do?

Oh, by the way, on my recent trip to PA I did transfer most of my makeup to a soft Ikea makeup case (With pockets on the inside) but I guess the banging of eyeshadows on each other broke my Shimmermoss e/s. I didn't take all of my makeup with me either, so I ended up many times thinking "darn, i really wish i had ____ along".

I take it all. I have this soft sonia kashuk duffle with pockets and i just carry it with me. if I'm flying or something and have to check my luggage, i take it as a carry on. too much money in there to risk something happening to it.

Do your parents/friends/boyfriend look at you funny? I think Nick pretty much understands my love affair with MAC now but I am sure when we were first together and when we first travelled together, he was like

i take ONE quad and fill it with 4 eyeshadows that match what i'll be wearing.. and i take concrete e/s because those are my eyebrows! hehe i take an angle brush to draw in my eyebrows... and i take one blush and i have 129 se brush. i take studio fix. and one lipgloss. i usually use fluidline but i dont want to have to lug round another brush so i take liquid liner with me. the end!

1 quad
1 angle brush
1 blush
1 powder
1 blush brush
1 lipgloss
1 liquid eyeliner

it kills me to take more b/c ive had eyeshadows crack, items stolen/lost, pigment spillage.

i take:

in a quad-
espresso (my brows)
carbon
vanilla
nighttrain (though lately i replace it with flirty number)
powder foundation
engraved p/p
hug me
some bright lippie in case we go someplace "dressy"
hundred degrees pearlizer (hate it, but all my blushes are depotted and HELL like i'm travelling with a msf)
travel brushes from sephora or mac
it might be more if we plan on meeting someone or have something planned. sometimes i take pigments in an extra screw top contacts case (waterproof), but never EVER anything that i don't have a full size of at home.

i had taken black tied to maui (half hour trip) and it simply EXPLODED in my suitcase and everything was glittery and black. now, my make up travels in my carry on. since my last case is glittery and black (damn black tied), i don't know what i'll use to keep it all in.

MAC spring bean l/g
revlon moistrous l/s in perfect plum

if it is more than a week i take all of the above AND

EDITED TO ADD:

i take a cream blush brush, a skunk brush, a blending e/s brush, a crease brush, an angled crease brush and sometimes a powder blush brush, all full size, all MAC except my beloved scott barnes e/s brush.

for a shorter trip i just grab the holiday 2003 travel brush set, but add the cream blush brush to it.

Usually I'm only gone for 3-4 days so I take 2 Quads with me, a warm toned one and a cool toned one, 3-4 l/s, maybe 3 glosses, mascara, 2 blushes, bronzer, 2 eye & lip liners, powder, concealer, and maybe a sparkle powder depending on what I'm doing. I always bring one cool toned set of things and one warm toned set that way no matter what I wear I have something to go with it. Gosh, I never realized but that's alot for 3-4 days! But I'm famous for overpacking, like for those 3 days I'll bring like 7 pairs of undies just in case (for what i don't know!)

as for packing make-up, well, while i don't take everything i own, i usually take my train case and pack it as much as possible.

you just never know! (especially when hanging out with Pimptress.. one minute she wants to go to the grocery store to get dip, the next she wants to hit the bars haha).

last week, when i moved, i took 3 packed makeup bags with me in my carry-on. i was sooooo happy i didn't get searched at airport security, because i think i would've been embarrassed when they saw what was in those bags!

lol.gif

today, i'm taking the bus back to London from Ottawa so that i can take the rest of my makeup with me - boxed, bubble-wrapped and carefully stowed in my suit case!

2 lipglass

1 shadestick
4 eyeshadows
1 MSF
powder foundation
eyeliner
mascara

i try not to bring pigments or glitters though i love them cause i had a little accident with one.

depends where i'm going and what im bringing, clearly i bring all the essential stuff like foundation, bronzer blushes etc. but i color coordinate my eyeshadows with my outfits a lot of the time (unless i'm wearing black.. then i'll wear whatever.. so i have a condo in miami that i go to a few times a year and i pick out outfits and then i pack my eyeshadows accordingly

oooh, this is a good question since I'll be flying home this week!

I ALWAYS take my makeup bag as a carry-on, too much of an investment for it to get stolen.

After I pack my clothes, then I figure out what makeup to take. I will always pack some nuetrals and black/grays since you can almost always wear those with anything. Most of the time I look at my quads or Xmas sets, because most of the colors have something that will work for most anything.

Of course, the usual foundaton, mascara etc is always included.

But I always overpack on the makeup. When we were in London a few years back, the friend we stayed with could not believe how much I brought. Well, you never know! And his gf did wear makeup, so go figure.

I'm in need of a new travel bag, any suggestions? I have one from Sonia Kashuk that is great, but for actual makeup that won't get ruined, what do you suggest?

So, I've never been on a plane before, but I may go to Hawaii next month (!!!). All I'm taking is a carry-on, but I'm concerned with things exploding - what makeup or other stuff should I not take?

things don't explode on planes

So you can take whatever you want, but I would TRY to only take what you really think you'll use. Unfortunately for me, that means everything. Good luck mac-packing!

When I went to Mexico I made sure that non of the things that i took were LE just in case if I lost something I would be able to replace it and not be mad cause I wasn't going to be able to get it again.

We travel quite a lot and so I've gotten my packing down (but like some others, I always pack extra undies!). As far as make-up, I usually pack:
2 4-pans e/s, 1 neutral, 1 brights/colours
2 l/s
2 l/g
NARS Orgasm blush
NARS Laguna bronzer
2 e/l pencils (Teddy & Engraved usu.)
Mascara
Foundation, concealer
Blot powder, lip balm and 2-3 other l/g products are in my purse at all times so I don't have to pack those.

Well I packed today for 3 days away and I limited my makeup pretty well...

5 shadows (Brill, Anti-Establishment, Pink Freeze, Vanilla, and Print)
Mascara X
Smoulder
Blacktrack fluidline
Madame B Lipstick and a liner
a bunch of brushes
blush
foundation

that was hard
