How Does A Custom Purchase Work?

I see offers and requests for CPs all over MUA, but how exactly do they work? Is this something you do out of the goodness of your heart or do you ask for a fee? Do you ask them for the money or do you do it in exchange for a swap item? I'm confused. Somebody please clear things up for me. I have the means to do CPs for some brands, but don't know what I might be getting myself into if I were to offer.

Thanks!

From what I know, CPs are done a lot on trust. The person asking for the CP should be either paying you (including product shipping) or if agreed, a trade. The requester usually sends the money via Paypal.

A person will usually post that they offer CPs (Custom Purchases) on swap listings or message boards; usually it is out of goodwill. It is beneficial to the person requesting the CP if a particular product or line is not available in the area they live in. It is normal for the person purchasing the products to request for payment first. As you can see, this is based on a lot of trust and I highly recommend only doing this with those that are well-established in swaps, highly trusted, or someone highly recommended. Sometimes, a CP may also be done in exchange for a swap item on someone's list.

In my experiences, the safest form of payment is PayPal. It gets there quickly and is trackable! Never send cash. If you have to, money orders/cashier's checks/checks are the alternative. I hope this helps!
