How Long Does it Usually Take??

Okay, so I applied to the MAC store (not currently hiring, but is expected to early spring), Bloomingdales, and 3 Macy*s stores close to my house. Later today I'm off to Neiman Marcus to apply there. Both Bloomie's and Macy*s had want ads on their websites for exactly my qualifications/job. I applied online on Thursday, followed-up (via phone and a message machine) yesterday, Saturday, and it's now Sunday. I wonder if there's anything else I need to do to make sure they know I'm very interested in an interview.

How long does it take for companies to usually get back to you? I'm restless. I remember with Nordstrom it took a little over a month to actually get through the application process.

Any advice on what to do next, or how to pass the time would be great.

Give it a week and call them back. This is the holiday season so interviewing might not be on the top of their list at the moment. *shrugs*

Yeah, Christmas has also been in the back of my mind. I don't want to bug them or be pushy because I know it's busy, but I don't want someone else to get hired before I can even get myself noticed!

I'm wondering if I should drop by tomorrow to introduce myself to the Dept. Manager and/or HR. Maybe he/she'll give me an on-the-spot interview? Does this sound good or should I wait until Thursday when my application was originally processed to do that?
