I think you may have to go to Sally to get a color remover as black color is NOTORIOUSLY AWFUL to bleach out. I am concerned that if you go platinum you may stick at brassy orange becaue of the colors in your hair now.

u dont have to wait a month to lift ur hair, if u do it urself 2 weeks is long enough just keep washing ur hair, if u put a bit of baking soda in ur shampoo and wash ur hair with that ur hair will lighten up some, before u color it again to a lighter color so that the process time doesnt take that long, also make sure that if u do lighten ur hair at home to use a toner aftwards, b/c going from dark to light ur hair goes through stages.. u will have more or an orange tint to ur hair when trying to lighten it from a darker color. anyhow u dont have to wait a month 2 weeks is long enough, since u only colored, not when u lift ur hair u should wait 3 weeks before adding anymore color to ur hair. if in doubt always go to a salon

i would go to a hairdresser and get it done professionally. and just to let you know it is pretty much a bitch to get it blonde from dark brown/black without frying it too much. it has taken me 9 months or so to finally get it as blonde as i want it from darrrrrk brown and little frying/mushy hair.
but you just have to be patient with the color. and figure..if you have to shell out, $100 or so to get it done...that isn't that much because you wear your hair everyday, i mean you spend that much on an outfit or makeup all the time. your hair is worth it.
good luck..hopefully this has helped!
