In terms of $ amount? Someone is selling theirs for $69.99 BNIB on ebay, but that seems absurd.

Yes, and people are also selling certain MSFs for $150 and up on eBay. They probably won't get it, unless they find some poor desperate individual that is willing to pay way more than the product sold for originally. Personally, I have it and it's not all that and a bag of chips. It has a nice texture, but is a bit to yellow for me to wear. So for me, $69.99 is a ridiculous price for it. But I've also don't believe in paying extortionist prices for something that might even be released again, like Parrot and Mothbrown.

I saw Gold Dusk a few months ago going for almost $70 and i couldn't believe it!!! I never even knew it got that "HTF/LE" status like Pleasureflush, Parrot, All Girl, etc.

But yeah, lately its been hitting high numbers!

the price is however much somebody is welling to pay for it.. for that pigment no I wouldn't pay that much. I however would call around and get it shipped out to me... gone but not forgotten any number of things in order to get it. however there are a few pigments that I would pay that much and more to get a full jar of.

Yeah I know! I was looking for Gold Dusk piggy on Ebay too but they're selling it at such an absurd price! Sorry I don't need that pigment that much. The cheapest I saw was around $50!

I think MAC's Gone but not Forgotten program only goes back a year in tems of searches for a product. So anything before 2007 wouldn't be eligible for that program. If you're looking for an LE item from 2007 though, it's a great way to find it without paying outrageous prices.

I adore Gold Dusk, but $69.99 is ridiculous. I would not pay that much for any rare pigment, personally.

I totally agree. It's highway robbery in my opinion.

Well good for you, you are a marketing person's dream customer.

But you're talking about buying products that aren't LE and are available at retail. In the case of Gold Dusk, you're paying for the hype, just like Parrot, Pleasureflush, etc, etc. It's not that the product has remarkable ingredients that will make you instantly gorgeous, but is a well made product and (smart on their part) LE. On some people it will look better than others. People begin to go on about it, like it’s the second coming of Christ and voila, instant over-hyped status acheived.

I personally prefer Softwash Grey pigment, which was released at the same time. The texture isn’t quite as nice as Gold Dusk, but for me, the color is so much prettier. Heck, Your Ladyship pigment is umpteen times better than Gold Dusk to me. Gold dusk retailed for $19.50. It's nice but could be duplicated by several MAC products already. At MUA in the review thread for Gold Dusk, there are several dupes for it listed in case anyone is interested.

I ADORE Gold Dusk, but I would NEVER pay that kind of money for it. I would buy sample after sample if I had to. I bought a full jar, sold half of it, pressed some of it, and still have more than 1/4 jar left. I use it often, and won't be running out anytime soon. Sooner or later, they will repromote it anyway...

You know what makes me laugh my arse off? When Petticoat came out, I remember people here were constantly complaining how bad Petticoat and Naked You were, in terms of quality. It was my first msf and the beginning of the decline in quality of these, according to people who had other earlier releases of msfs. Now that its $185 (

) I do believe P.T. Barnum was right. There is a sucker born every minute. It's not that Petticoat isn't a nice product, it's just not worth anywhere near what they're asking for it.

After being here just a couple of years, I realized almost all the really good LE items do get re-released either directly like Parrot or Mothbrown, or a new name is slapped on it (Subtle = Coco). So for me, its just a constant source of amusement to watch what people will ask for these items on ebay. I always think how much MAC I could be buying with what they are asking, instead of paying jacked up prices on eBay.

And for what it's worth to people just starting out collecting MAC and worried about getting all of the HTF items: if you are looking for items that will be the next HG of MAC, this last year had a lot of winners in it. So you'd be much better served stalking your CCO or taking advantage of MAC's gone but not forgotten program to pick some of these items up instead. I think the Barbie collection and Antiquitease had some really nice items in their collections. Plus the sale and swap section of Specktra is a great place to find things as well. As Audrey Nichole said, samples are a great way to try HTF pigments out without losing your shirt paying for them.

Just my opinion, but I hate to see newer MAC fans taken in by hype on some of these products.

WOW!! Those prices are astronomical!! No matter how much I wanted a pigment, I could never pay that much for it! I guess I just lucked out and got a full jar from Specktra for $16. I remember doing searches on eBay for certain pigments and eyeshadows and I near choked on my hot cocoa and marshmellows when I saw the tags the seller had!

Plus, ever since Specktra, I have discovered the joy of samples, dupes and re-releases or releases of almost exactly the same color.
