How to Apply MAC Shadesticks

Hey Guys!

When I apply a shadestick, the colour just doesn't come out evenly on my skin. I tried to blend out the colour with my finger but it just turned into a smudged mess!

Are there any special techniques when it comes to using shadesticks?

Thanks!
Steph

I warm it between my hands before applying it, apply, then blend out with my finger. Are your lids dry? Are you using anything under the shadestick?

Warm it up with your hands OR keep it under a desk lamp for 1 or 2 mins and it will soften the color enough for you to apply evenly.

I have Corn and Crimsonaire.

I use UDPP under both. I warm them up too (roll them vigorously between my palms for about 20 seconds) and then just smear them on, like I'm coloring with a crayon in a coloring book.

They both apply pretty evenly after being warmed up, but I've heard some of the other colors are a bit harder to work it.

yup, definitely warm them up. i use bare study paint pot underneath any colored bases even other colored paint pots even though bare study is a base on its own already. i just like the consistency of bare study (for me at least), really creamy.

I have a hard time as well, like it was mentioned above, some Shade Sticks are harder to work with, Sea Me is one of them.

Warming them up is the best thing you can.

Applying it with a brush? I have heard about people doing that but they must be warming it up a lot. I don't know how that would work without doing that, just knowing how they can be.

Zap it with a hairdryer for a few seconds, then apply directly or with your finger. A hard cream product like a Shadestick requires more direct heat than you'd get from a brush; using your fingers will help to give it a smoother finish.

The frost shadesticks are much harder to work with than the creams. Don't forgot to cap them tightly after use; if they're left open a hard skin will form on the product and they'll become increasingly difficult to use over time.
