Gonna be completely honest.

I think they look like shimmery Oompa Loompas.

But I don't know why you'd look like that unless you're applying bronzer REALLY heavily.

Maybe try something a little closer to matte, or with a very very slight sheen.
I use Smooth Harmony Beauty Powder, and the Dark MSF natural and it always photographs beautifully

I agree! (with both the Oompa Loompa bit AND the products recs

)
Dark MSF natural is what I use if I want a bit of 'all' over colour - use sweep it on with a big fluffy brush wherever you need it! Apart from that, I'm not too sure!

Yea, they do look pretty orange...

anyhow I'd suggest using a self tanner. Cargo also makes a great matte bronzer, and Benefit Hoola is great too. Both aren't orange and contain no shimmer at all!

i think using a matte bronzer will help. My fave is studio gear. Also I love the stila bronzer it has a little shimmer but not too much.

I'm NC 15 and I use Refined Golden.

I hope with all this tan obsession that you ladies are wearing your sunscreen. You can get the bronzed look without all the sun damage.

I use Melon pigment sparingly and buff it all over the high planes of my face, then I used to take Fairylite (DISC) and dust it over the low plains. I had a guy friend who kept doing double takes and then finally asked everyone else if it seemed like I was glowing to them... it was awesome because it was just enough to make people take notice but not think I had shellacked myself in make up.

I had a 62 year old girlfriend ask what I used to get my glow too. She wanted some!

It's good shit right there.

They do look a bit orange. XD

I've tried the Bare Bronze collection from Victoria's Secret and it turns out very nicely for me! I have olive/tanned skin already, but give it a try and see what you think! It's not too pricey either.

It's just not a colour that matches your skin tone. I'd suggest NARS Laguna aswell hon.
What is your skin tone? I'm NC30 and I use gold trace for a shimmery bronze

Im sorry but they are not sunkissed.
nope.gif

Sunkissed means when the sun hits your face and you have that natural glow. Their color does not look natural. They look orange, like they have been on a tanning bed for too long. I don't think this is what you want. Or at least I hope not!

The idea of giving yourself a bronzey or sunkissed glow is to know how to contour right and use the right warm shade. Try using a blush instead of an actual bronzer bc they tend to be dark. Using a darker colored blush would be realstic b/c you can always sheer it out. Try using a medium brown toned blush or Nars bronzers since they are subtle with shimmer.

I recently tried NARS' bronzer in Laguna. By far one of the best bronzers I've come across.

I'm a bit on the tan side -- If I am not careful, some bronzers (and even blushes) look quite "off" on my face.

Prior to finding out about Nars' Laguna I was using Physican's Formula's Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer, Blush & Eye Shadow (yeah, it's a long name) in Sunset Strip (btw. the product picture shown on the physician's formula website is not the best rendition of 'Sunset Strip's' color options). I would use a VERY light hand & a duo-fiber/stippling brush when applying this product.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

I think those girls have undertones in their skin that make it appear more orangy when they are tan, i'm not sure what kind of undertones they are, but I know my friend also gets kind of orangy in the summer when she tans. When I tan however I notice that my undertones are deeper, so it doesn't look orangy. I'm not really sure if I'm explaining this correctly! LOL

I love Nars Laguna bronzer, but I want to find a matte bronzer soon, I think too faced is coming out with one.

I love the idea of powder -- it is easier to get a more complete degree of tan. I recently was given a sample of Prescriptives Bronzer in light shade (it feels wet when you apply and then dries beautifully). For my skin tone (NC15- 20 in summer) it looked perfect without any orange. I used some Angel on the apples of cheeks and it looked very natural -- even to my crabby husband

When I tan, I don't get orange or brown. I turn this golden color, and no matter how dark I get, I never turn orange or brown. My dad tans this deep orangey-brown, and my brother just turns brown. I don't know what the difference is, but it's something!

To look bronzed, I like to do a matte bronzer (Everyday Minerals Soft Bronzer or Everyday Bronzer, depending on how much color I want) in the 3 shape along my forehead, under my cheekbones, and along my jaw. To emphasize the bronzer, I then like to highlight the tops of my cheekbones and around the temple/browbone area.

I've been using the MAC bronzer in Golden but I think it's to glittery/shimmery. So NARS has a nice matte bronzer? I'm NC20 so I have to be careful what bronzers I use otherwise I'd go oompa loompa too!

I have Too Faced Beach Bunny and I really like it. I tried using MSFN dark but it looked orange on me. I hear a lot of great things about Laguna so you may want to try that.

im almost 100% those girls are wearing self-tanner... especially the girl on the left... even her eyebrows have an orangy self-tanner tint to them.

Not for nothing, during the winter months when I want to look a little bit darker, I apply self tanner to my face before I go to bed. When I wake up in the morning it looks like I sat outside in Aruba for a couple hours. It actually matches my body because my face is always paler anyways. I wouldn't recommend this for somebody who is REALLY fair because than you will look like an oompa loompa. But when I wake up I just take a bronzer brush (I use Sephoras) and dab some bronzer and then rub some on my cheeks, and nose. I always look sunkissed and not out of place.

If the girl on the right is wearing self tanner, I so want to know what she uses. Haha. Look at her chest ... As much as I love my self tanners, my bottled tans NEVER come out looking like that. That's what my natural tan looks like. Kind of ... Purple/grey-ish almost? Whereas my fake tans always have more of a yellow tint to them, even the good ones.
