How to rescue Richmetal Highligher?

I bought 2 Richmetal Highlighters from the Color Forms collection (July 2008?). I loved them for the first month as a blush. Then forgot about them for a few months. I promise they were properly stored in a cool dry place.

Now when I try to use either one they're so dry that I can't get any color transferred to my 190 brush or from there to my skin. I've also tried application as an eye highlighter and had the same issue.

At a MAC counter they told me to try wetting my brush with water before picking up the color. This had no effect.

Please tell me how I can perk my RH's back up so that they're usable again!

Thanks in advance!

I would try mixing medium (I use it with dried paints). Put a few drops on it and work it in with your finger.

I know you can make your own from a combination of glycerin(found in drug stores) and water. It's much cheaper but i don't know the ratio. Sorry.

I sometimes use a bit of cream colour base or strobe cream. Briefly holding the container close to a hot lamp also helps.. but i don't think you can keep on doing that endlessly

Wipe the top of the highlighter with a paper towel, and don't be afraid to put some elbow into it. If you scrub off the hard crust you'll reveal a regular creamy consistency underneath.

If you can't get enough grip with the paper towel to break up that hard top layer, you can also lay some sticking tape over the crust, give it a quick rub to ensure you've got maximum grip and lift it away.

I think it's 1 part glycerin to 3 parts water

Hee!

Rubbing the top hard did get rid of the crust. I'd thought the whole thing was dry. Thank goodness it wasn't!
