how to take great self-pics that don't show pores?

My pores aren't even huge in real life, and of course I wear foundation and powder but for some reason I can see pores when I take pics of myself. Is it because I'm holding the camera too close or is it cause the flash is on. What's the ideal camera setting to take great pics of yourself that don't overemphasize your pores? Anyone have some tips on angles etc? Also for some reason my nose looks huge when I take pics of myself too... lol

HAHAHA I have that same prob w/my nose looking big. Yea, it's b/c you're holding the camera close, so the nose gets exaggerated.

As for the pores, I couldn't quite tell you. I never use flash when I take pictures, though. I stand in a well-lit room without any harsh lights pointing right in my face. Maybe that's it?

Ok, I'll try taking more pics without flash in a well lit room, it just seems like the colors look more vivid with the flash on.

I have a sony cybershot and I'm using the "shoot subject with soft background" mode, not sure if that's the best setting for taking pics of MU or if there's anything else I should try...

sadly, there is no way of making pores magically disappear in a close up photo, short of doctoring them out afterwards.

to minimise their appearance i try to take "close up" face shots on a high resolution at arms length, then i crop the photo and resize as required. if you're holding the camera really close to your face it's going to pick up every little detail.

Don't know a secret, but I went to an esthetician after seeing a close-up pic of myself and becoming obsessed that my pores were huge. She laughed at me (I knew her) because she said my pores are tiny. :p

I have seen some great FOTD's from folks on here where I can't see pores at all and their skin just looked flawless. Of course they probably have fabulous skin and smaller pores than me. Does any camera settings help though? Or should I just wear more powder? right now I'm using the MSF powder and on top of that I even add MUFE HD powder on top, perhaps im doing it too lighty and need to pack it on for photos or something?

Or maybe my pores ARE huge?
