How well do you know your neighbors?!!?

Go to this site... it's scary how many perverts there are running around...

http://www.familywatchdog.us/

When you visit this site you can enter your address and a map will pop up with your house as the small icon of a house and red, blue, green, dots surrounding your entire neighborhood. When you click on these dots a picture of a person will appear with an address and the description of the crime he or she had committed. I was really shocked at how many of these people were in my neighborhood. The best thing is that you can show your children pictures and see how close these people live to your home or school.

This site was developed by John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted. Another tool to help us keep our kids safe. Please pass on to anyone who has families.

There are quite a few sex offenders in the 2 mile radius around our home...the scary part is that one of them is the husband of a lady I speak to on a daily basis...her son and my son are in the same grade, and I have known them both for 4 years...I had no idea. He was convicted on 5 counts of possession of child pornography...he has two kids...ewww.

There's also a grandfather and a mom who are convicted sex offenders...I have seen them around school from time to time...they cannot be prohibited from entering the school because they are out of supervision but they are watched like hawks whenever they're in the school...it really is scary stuff.

it certainly is one way of tracking known offenders and helping parents keep their kids dafe, but it would be very sad if the data was inaccurate or out of date and an innocent person was vilified just because they now live in a house that sex offender used to live in.

Fairly sure is lists the name of the person living there, some also have a photo. And i believe the system does get updated, as once you in the system your in it. But no idea. That would be a great question to send an e-mail too to that department.

And yeh welcome to a world where privacy does not exist.

I'm pretty sure each state has their own website. Here is the one for Georgia - http://services.georgia.gov/gbi/gbisor/disclaim.html

You can also search for predators and absconders. It lists the date of residence verification, so it seems like they update it pretty regularly.

I've seen a lot of 18-year-olds convicted of child molestation/statutory rape, probably because their younger girlfriends parents pressed charges...a la Marcus Dixon.

oooo, how weird is that - for me, your post quoting me appears before my original post! gremlins...

i do know that they update the system, but if they don't get the data quickly, get inaccurate/out of date data or don't update it regularly enough it could potentially damage the name and lives of innocent people. there have been reports of people having damage done to their houses by vigilantes who thought a sex offender lived there, when the sex offender had actually moved away, and the current residents knew nothing of it. this happened through people finding out of date info.

it's a very scary thought.

This freaked me out! I checked my current address, all of the other old addresses, my boyfriends, my friends, other family...Everyones!

I was shocked to find out how many live around all of these places! But I did do a search just out of my curiosity to find a higher populated area and searched around Boradway in NYC...and whoa...And the fact that they posted pictures of most made me totally weirded out.
