I am so lousy at wearing lipstick

I am really lousy at wearing lipstick or lipgloss. I put it on, and 15 minutes later it's all gone, and I forget about reapplying. I would so like to be able to wear lipstick, but I guess I am not ladylike enough

My problems are two things: First of all I am addicted to chapstick. I need my lips to feel constantly moisturized. Also that's why I have some succes with lipsticks such as pro longwear, because I can add a moisturizing product on top.

Second, when I go out it's usually for eating or drinking. And then my lipstick is gone in a second.

And also I keep putting my lips together. That doesn't help eather.

So how do I learn to wear lipstick? How do you guys make your lipstick stay on?

And can anyone recommend lipsticks that stays on? Seriously, I can even make a lipfinity dissapear in seconds. I need recommendations on both seriously longlasting glosses and lipsticks.

Instead of lipsticks; why don't you try lip stains? You can wear them, they last for hours because they sink into your lips; and you can wear chapstick without getting rid of much of the color. I haven't tried any lipstains, but I have heard good things about the covergirl one, and I believe that Sephora carries some as well. HTH!

I have trouble wearing lipsticks too, and I'm also addicted to chapstick! I carry my lipstick, compact mirror, and a tissue in my purse when I go out so I can reapply or cleanup edges if needed.

To keep my lips moist, I use a moisturizer on my lips before applying lipstick, then I put a little lip gloss on top, works great for me =)

As far as pressing your lips together, it's a habit that you have to break, I do it all the time but try to be conscious about it when I wear lipstick.

HTH!

That sounds good! What is a lip stain?

I have the same problem! I found thata lip liner really helped make it last and I just try to be very conscious of what I'm doing with my lips.

Would love to hear other suggestions too

Do you apply the lipliner to the entire lips or just the edges?

Try MAC's Lip Primer. Personally I think this is one of MAC's most underrated products... I also constantly feel the need to moisturise my lips. This keeps them nice and smooth and moisturised, and also helps lengthen the wear of your lip colour products.

lip stains are your friend!

i don't think mac have any perm lipstains but they brought out a couple this year with the rose romance collection. and they also did one with the unagro collection last year which is lovely.

they come in tubles liek gloss and have a doe foot applicator. they go on nice and smooth - just use a little and don't apply thickly. they dry quite quick and your lips are left stained for a fair few hours. i usually just apply a lip balm over a lip stain.

revlon at one point did some nice stains called just bitten. they came in a few pinky - red colours but not sure if they were limited edition or not.

i find that matte lipsticks will last longer than other finishes too. so check out some mattes - ruby woo is one of my faves!

if you want a longer lasting gloss i think dazzleglasses last longest on me. 5-6 hours later i can still see glitters. stay away from cremesheen and any gloss that is slippy because they'll just slide off.

hope this helps

Thank you so much, that was very helpfull.

Is See Thru Lip Colour from the Rose Romance collection a lip stain? I LOVE those, but only got one.

I love lipstick! MACs Amplified Cream and Matte formulas can stay on for a few hours at least. I highly recommend them. Also as previous posters recommended lining your lips with a lipliner helps make lipstick last longer.

I have issues getting lipstick to...well...stick, because I smoke and have a tendency to bite my lower lip a lot. What I do is put a nice, moisturizing balm on my lips while I'm getting the rest of my face ready, then blot right before I put on my lip products (helps take some of the surface "slip" away so your stuff will stay on better). I use Urban Decay's lip primer, a little bit is all you need, so don't cake it on, and then use lipliner to line and shade in my whole lip. I apply lipstick over the liner, blot once, then apply again lightly. This usually helps my lipstick stay on a LOT longer, despite my smoking and lip-biting. Also, I tend to use the Amplified formula, because i find they stick around longer than the others, and I hate how mattes feel on my lips.
Also, if you don't mind a matte lip, you can use MUFE HD powder to "set" your lipstick. What I do is use my finger to press some of the powder on my lips, and that REALLY helps the color stay...just don't lick your lips, cuz it tastes gross. LOL I like using this trick rather than a matte lipstick because my lips still feel soft and moisturized, as opposed to the dry feeling they get with matte lipsticks. HTH!

I draw along the edge of my lips and then kinda smudge it onto the rest - not really coating the entire lip area. Then apply lipstick and gloss, followed by a quick blot with a tissue.

Thank you so much.

I also read elsewhere and got some godd advice from a friend about how to wear Pro Longwear. I realized that I did not let it dry long enough, I ruined it by keep putting my lips together before it was completely dry, and I put lipglosses and chapsticks over, that contained grease, which will remove it.

I have also bought a couple of different lipsticks based on your recomendations, and I just want to let you know what I think.

First of all I got another lipstain, one of the limited See Thru Lip Colours from the Roses Romance collection. They're amazing!

I also got a Maybelline Superstay Powergloss, which is sort of the same concept as Pro Longwear, but much softer, transparent and much more like a longlasting gloss. I can't quite figure out what sort of lipstick it is? Maybe it's a lipstain? Anyway I absolutely love it! Because the othe long lasting lipsticks such as pro longwear are so concentrated in colour. This is the much more transparent and more like just wearing lipgloss, and it's PERFECT for everyday use. I got it in number 605 Satin Glow. A perfect nude pink on me! I think I will really use it a lot.

And I also got a Lipfinity, but hasn't used it yet. I don't know why I didn't think of the lipfinitys before. I have used them many years ago, and actually prefere them over Pro Longwear.

So thank you SO much for your help.

Just one more question: Are there any lip glosses that last longer or are lip glosses just all very quickly gone?

Wearing lipstick/lipgloss takes practice. Try applying a little bit of foundation to your lips and then lining them with a lipliners color in the lip with the lipliner before applying the lipstick/lipgloss. It will seal the lip product to the lip much better and you will resist the urge to lick your lips.
