I have a serious disaffection for Orgasm...wtf

OK don't get me wrong, I love the colour of this blush on my fair skin. However, I have a serious problem with Orgasm. The powder in the pan CONSTANTLY gets this hard top layer, like a film, and I can't take anymore product from the pan with my brush.

I've scraped this layer off numerous times, using a tissue, then using a sharp clean knife to scrape it off. But it keeps coming back!! Like almost everytime I use it.

I use a dry clean brush to apply the product, but this crusty compacted layer keeps coming back!

What the hell is causing this and how can I get it to stop getting all crusty? It's so annoying because this was an expensive blush and I want to use it, but it's so much trouble to have to remove a pretty thick layer of product each time, which just wastes it.

This is the only blush that does this, my MAC blushes don't do this at all. Do other Nars blushes have the same issue??

I have two NARS blushes (of which the other one is Orgasm) and I haven't noticed anything like what you described. All I can think of is that either your product is somehow defective or that even though you use a clean brush something from your skin still gets to the brush and is transferred to the pan (which would seem really strange since you state that all your other blushes are fine - perhaps the NARS blushes have some strange ingredient that reacts with what is on the brush).

Certainly seems like a bizarre thing to happen though!

Hmm I know you said you use a clean dry brush but have you ever used any emollient products with the same brush that could have possibly gotten into the blush? That's the only thing I can think of, or perhaps it's the oils from your skin somehow making that happen. Either way it's very strange! I'd write to NARS customer service and perhaps they'll send you a new one in case it's the product that's messed up.

Orgasm is the only NARS blush I have that's hard. So hard that it's a pain just trying to get some color onto the brush. It was like that even when it was brand new.

I don't have those problems with other colors.

Have you had this color before and it has happened? There may have been a bad batch & you shouldn't have to deal with it like that whatever the reason. I would contact NARS... maybe just via email. They should know, so they can fix the problem... both with you and everyone else.

I had that happen with one of my MAC eyeshadows a while back. I fixed the problem.....I don't use it anymore but what a waste.

all thats wrong is you have to clean your blush brush with some brush cleaner daily...the combo of that and your natural oils in your skin mixed with foundation and moisturizer will do that to a product esp orgasm because of the shimmer in it and the way its made.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestions. I bought the Nars blush at Sephora when I was visiting the states, and it was a long while back, nearly a year ago, so I think it's a bit late to contact them with a complaint.

It may be that an emollient product is getting transferred but if so, it must be minimal, because the brush is totally dry when I use it. And I don't use the brush differently than I would with other blushes and it never seems to happen.

Meh! I think I'll just stay away from Nars blushes all together now.

I have the SAME PROBLEM!!! I actually bought mine from someone here on Specktra and its brand new. But after the first few uses, there is like a film or crust on top of it which prevents the product from getting on my brush. I was scared to scrape it off becuz I didnt want to crack the entire thing. But its super annoying...

Glad I'm not the only one!

Don't worry, the scraping won't break it, just use a sharp paring knife. A papertowel works also.

I've processed a few returns on different blushes and pressed powder products for the same reason. it's likely that the brush you're using, depending on how you wash it, is holding onto water/shampoo/oils/cream face products and when you hold the brush upside down or at an almost upside down angle, it shifts to the tip of your brush, and allows the residue to settle into your blush/powder etc. if you're shampooing your brush with soap and water; mix a little bit of alcohol into it to help it dry faster, and make sure your shampoo is clarifying like a baby shampoo or detoxifying cleanser, that way it doesn't leave any buildup in your brush.

HTH!

Yo,
My Orgasm has the SAME problem. I've resorted to using scotch tape to take off the top layer every so often.
Alll my other NARS blushes are fine and don't suffer from this weird disorder!

Ugh I've got this problem atm and it's with a brand new pan!
I opened it up, it doesn't even look like Orgasm (I compared it to my friend's and mine doesn't have that shimmer, two-tone effect) and I've tried every brush under the sun to get it to work but what pisses me off is I bought Angelika at the same time, and this works like a dream, but it's too bright to use with every look

I've had the same problem with all of my nars eyeshadows. I know its not the brush I use because the crust forms evenly on the entire surface of the product, not just where I dip the brush in it.

Seeing as how others have got this problem with Nars stuff, this has turned me right off this company! What a waste of money...

Omgosh, I thought I was the only one with this problem! I bought my Orgasm/Laguna Duo last year and it started having that film on top of it a few months after I started using it. I agree it's really annoying. That's why I only use my Laguna right now.

I just noticed that some of our testers have that problem; my theory stands that the oils in our clients fingers absorb into the product and make the film. So it's possible that like someone else said if you've used your brush to pick up any liquid/creamy products, you transferred them into your blush and they're now trapped in the powder of the product. Orgasm has a different texture than the other NARS blushes. It's more of a textured gold frost laid into the peach base color, so it's two textures in one. The others have more glitter or pearl in them, which is why you're not experiencing it with other colors.
That totally sucks that it's not working out for you. But I assure you, I've never seen it with any other product except Orgasm blush.
