I make a mess of applying paint.

I got my first paint last week - Magrittes - i love it and like to use it alone or with a little bit of eyeshadow. I like to use it all over my lid and blending up towards the browbone. Trouble is i end up with harsh faint wobbly edges of the paint around my eye area and when blending it ends up in inner corners of my eyes which doesn't look nice (thank god it's a shade that is close to my skin tone) I know using a brush would help and i'm going to get one but i think even with a brush i need help with application. Any tips?

Also is it possible to use an art store brush for paints?

i really like the 242 for paints.. if u use a small amount with your finger, that does the trick 4 me too..

I nearly bought that brush when i was going to buy my 1st eye brush. I can't really afford to buy another Mac brush right now, would it be possible to get a art store one which would work as good? or is that too ambitious?

That brush is usually included in the holiday sets. Those are a pretty good investment if you are just starting a collection. I think they usually run around $40 for the 6 brush set.
For the application, start with a teeny tiny amount of the paint. I find that when there is the slightest bit too much, the texture becomes uneven and hard to work with. I think this is because they start drying so quick. You can always add more and build on the color.

Any flat, compact headed filbert art-brush for use with acrylics or gouache should work for paints just as well as the MAC brush.
