I need a good camera

So I've been using my digital camera to take some pics of my differnt looks. But my makeup looks super light. However, in person...it's extremely dark! I've already tried adjusting all the settings, but nothing seems to help.

I have the Sony cybershot camera.

Can anyone recommend a good camera for taking up close pictures? Or know what settings I should use?

I have always loved Canon, they have so many options on the camera, for instance different lighting settings. I say get a canon! They're so much fun and I keep discovering something new everyday. haha I bought a sony before and i ended up returning it the next day because it made me look unnatural, either too orange or too pastey. Weiird. HTH!

I have an 8.1 megapixel Sony CyberShot, which I love. It has it's good & bad days, but sometimes it's because I've got crap on the lens that needs cleaning or because of my own shaky hands. I always hit the macro button, the little button that shows a flower, probably on the display and that really helps for taking good upclose shots. I always use my macro setting anyway unless I'm taking a faraway landscape shot.

I had a Canon Powershot 5 megapixel camera a few years back when those models first came out, when they were made much sleeker & compact. Although I loved it, I just found I needed more megapixels to make my pics bigger and give them more detail & definition.

I've had a couple of point & shoot cameras - Sony Cybershot, Minolta and Canon. Canon's definitely the best, at least for me. I've a Canon Powershot A710 IS, 7.1MP and it takes great pictures.

I have the DSC-W80 model Cyber shot 7.2...It's an older model.

I have a hard time photographing pictures up close or just a couple of feet away. The pics come out super bright and really washes me out. You can't even tell I'm wearing makeup.

And when I take pics at night, they are not clear...AT ALL! Everyone comes out with red-eye and the picture looks fuzzy.

Any suggestions you have would be great. Thanks!

It's probably just a matter of playing with the functions until you find what you need. If you do opt for a new camera, I'd suggest a Canon Powershot. We just got one (the SD790 IS) and we love it. It is sooo much better than our last and it's fairly easy to use with a little instruction.

As far as point and shoot cameras go, Canon makes some of the best. If that's what you're looking to buy, I highly recommend Canon.

If you're looking to spend more money and take it up as a hobby, then I'm on the Nikon bandwagon.

i can't actually remember much about the details of this model but i don't think it has landscape recognition mode - it's kinda like face detection but it recognises if you're in a dark club and makes the picture so that the people are bright but also the background - usually the background is pretty much black. as for why it's not working out doing make up pics i dont know because the w70 and w80 used to be really good sellers!
