I need honesty right now...should I go for it?

I know I've kinda posted in here before about wanting to work for MAC. However being the sissy I am, I need reaffirmations from total strangers...
My point is I really want to work for MAC. A few friends have encouraged me to apply, as well as some lovely Specktrettes, because I'm not too shabby with makeup but I'm also really good at selling things and I'd say I have pretty decent product knowledge. I know my application could use some work, and i'm trying, but I've definitely improved over just the last 6 months or so.
But from people other than my friends, meaning relative strangers, honestly, should I go for it?

Also, for those who say I'm not, what could I work on to better prepare myself?

Thanks in advance!

If you don't try how can you succeed? Seems like this is something you have to prove to yourself. Everyone else knows you have it in you, go for it!

What do you have to lose by applying? Probably nothing. Either things can go great and you get hired, or you can try your best, then learn and improve based on that experience.

Apply! I was always so scared and I let 3 permanent positions slip past me, and when I finally applied for freelance I got it and my demo even went badly. They told me that all they were looking for in me was basic application, my level of comfort at the counter, how well I took directions or tips they gave me and personality! So, it isn't all about one or two things! You seem like you have a lot to offer them, so show them!!! (And do not get discouraged if weeks or months go by and you haven't heard anything from them....it seems like they really take their time in the hiring process!) Good luck!

Apply. You have a definite talent. The worst thing is waiting around feeling the nagging feeling of regret. I am sure you will do a marvelous job and would be a fine asset to MAC.

Funny cause I'm going through the same thing. But I'm gonna give it a go too but just for freelace. I have no sales experience and I have a day job I don't want to give up.

see, i would love to quit my job, but only if i can get on at MAC or another top shelf company. I don't wanna leave a job I decently like unless it was to do something i absolutely love, like make up artistry.

So try it out and see if they will work with you around your other job if that is possible. An as things get better you'll decide later. I should really take my own advise-LOL.

I say go for it girl!! You have nothing to lose by just applying and going to the interview... I wouldn't quit your job until you KNOW you are getting hired by MAC, so definitely go for it, your FOTDs are gorgeous!

I would recommend you keep doing makeup on other people, and not just your family or close friends, completely different people so that you won't get used to one type of face. Also make sure to brush up on your sanitation practices!

Why don't you freelance for MAC? You can keep your job and work nights/weekends/whatever and get in good with a few counters...when permanent positions open up, you can go for one!
