Hey guys,
I normally dont like talking about hair because I feel really self-concious looking at everyone else and their nice pretty hair.
I made some really grave hair mistakes when I was younger(got a perm which the hairstylist screwed up,bleached my hair...) So all that plus all the heat which I used to straighten my hair really took a number on my hair.I used to have beautiful long brown hair, and it took my years apon years to get my hair at least relatively normal looking.
I have alot of breakage in my hair, and I cant even go swimming because I dont like the look of it when I dont dry and use my straightener(I have naturally curly hair).
So my question is,are there any products out there that can give back some life to my hair??Im sick and tired of having to cut off so many inches so cutting it isnt an option for me anymore.I've tired just about every shampoo/product I can get my hand on.My hair is about 70%where I want it to be so im looking for anything out there(price isnt an issue)that can help more.

Any suggestions???????????

First, I'd say stop heatstyling it.
Hard, I know. But, when you blowdry and straighten you're giving it issues.
Regular trims.
Deep conditioning treatments, and faithful trips to a good hairstylist.

Sebastion makes this wonderful stuff called potion #9. It is a leave in conditioner and styler and it has worked wonders on my hair. I have curly hair that I would straighten every day. I have also coloured it since I was 16 because that's when I started going gray. The potion #9 makes my hair feel like silk, and even though I cut it all off and I don't need my straightener anymore, it helps prevent damage if I do use it. I would also suggest the Str8 line from Rusk. It makes products specifically for use with a straight iron and helps to condition and prevent damage. I completely understand where you are coming from because I was straight hair obsessed too. I hate my natural curl. The best thing I ever did was to chop it all off.

start straightening with a blowdrying instead of flat iron, and get a blowdryer that has a cool setting on it, and use that setting.

i straightened my hair every single day with a heated flat iron for about a year, i've dyed it about 7 times in the past 4 months. i've put it through HELL. straight up, hell.

dr. miracle has a really amazing line of products that will help heal your hair. you can find their stuff at sally's beauty supply. they have an anti-breakage conditioner for about 8$, get some. it's fabulous.

you may want to do a deep conditioning treatment or two

Hi there

Ahh, I've been going through some issues with my hair too (its been acting CARAZY ever since I was pregnant and gave birth)...anyways, I use Phyto products, and I SWEAR by them. Especially the hair and nail vitamins...my fine, straight blonde hair grows an inch a month at least, and its totally strong and resilliant now (down to my bra strap). The vitamins are kinda expensive (50 bucks for a 2 month supply), but they have seriously worked for me. I also love their hair cream and volumizing mousse.
Other than that, gotta give props to healthy hair because of good organic food, lots of water and protein and good ol' excercise!!

Well for starters, I think you should try to appreciate your curly hair. You probably don't like it at the moment because you haven't found the right hairstyle. If you really hate it I'd get it chemically straightened at a salon (costs aboutt +300 USD depending on length of hair). The Japanese process is best but be prepared to sit in a salon for more than four hours buts results last for about six months.

Everyone should really deep condition once a week, get their hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks (best indicator you have to get it trimmed is if the ends look really dry and that they noticable split ends), and use heat protecting products while heatstyling. I can't believe the number of people who do not do this and I don't think I can't stress this enough. If you are into heat styling always, always, always use a heat protecting product.

But really you should appreciate your hair texture and not feel self concsious about it. Most reason people don't like their hair texture is because they haven't found the perfect hairstyle to suit it.

if you don't like your curly hair, why not put it into a pony tail? Also, moisturize is the key to healthy hair! Also, what shapmoo are you using right now? So many shampoo out there is so drying.

I would say slowly start trimming. Forget about heat styling for a long while. No more chemical use at all. I go on rounds of at home deep conditioning and clarifying shampoo. I put in leave in conditioner... and in about a year my hair has gone back to being shiney, smooth and moisturized.

My hair is curly and I think if you get it back in shape you can learn to appreciated it. Just find the right prodcuts... I won't lie I straighten my hair like once every few months... and I use a large barrel curling iron like once a month... but that's just special ocassions... I'm in love with my hair now and can't wait til it gets longer.

I've been avoiding spending money on an expensive haircut til I get it at the length I want... I just go get cheap trims.

I once had long, gorgeous hair that reached the back pockets on my jeans...I had a spiral perm and my hair ended up being fried! I had to go back every few weeks for a trim.

Anyhow, I spent a good chunk of money on shampoos, conditioners, deep-conditioning treatments, etc. etc...during a visit to my regular doctor, I asked if there were any vitamins that I could take that would help my skin/nails/hair. She recommended drinking LOTS of water (lemonade, limeade, and Crystal Light count!) and to take Vitamin E gelcaps.

She explained that hair & nails are cared for from the inside out and topical treatments are only temporary solutions.

Ever since that day, I've made sure to drink at least 6 glasses of clear/transparent liquids and I take a Vitamin E gelcap daily. It's been years since the bad perm, but my hair is in much better shape and I keep it shorter nowadays since it's so much easier & quicker to wash, dry, & style.

HTH.

Drink lots of water, Good Nutrition, Take Multivitamins, Don't Wash Hair Everyday. Use less Shampoo and more COndtioner. Also use a good mostuirzer and a serum. Loreal's true nature theaphy mega mostiure cream is excellent to add mostuire. I have heard Aussie Mega Shampoo and Aussie 3 minute Reconstructor are great. Nexxus Therappe and Nexxus Humctress are great shampoo and condtioner for dry/ damaged hair! I use Nexxus. Oh and Deep condtion once a week and if you use serum or other products besides shampoo and cond use a good clyarfying shampo like suave or pantene.

i used to have very straight hair until i started doing at home coloring every month. i think i bleched out my hair about 3 times already so it really destroyed my hair. it started turning all damaged and frizzy. i looked terrible. so i just went to the salon and got the japanese hair staightening treatment and my hair has looked really silky, soft, and shiny ever since. so you should probably give that a try. mines was $130. took a little more than 3 hours. so if money isnt a factor you should try it.
