Many of you have been following my continuing attempts to find the perfect blonde for me, and have also read my posts about how hubby didn't really like my haircolor after taking the plunge and going blonde. I've liked it all along, but have struggled a lot with keeping the gold/brassy tones at bay, even using Born Blonde and various purple shampoos. My stylist/colorist has been working with me through this process and has tried various things to find the perfect balance of lift and control. I had an appt for a root touchup Saturday and I had them set aside extra time to re-evaluate my color because it was really brassy and it had been at least 2 appts. since I had any bleach other than the roots.
Finally, success! I liked the color before but just didn't feel 'blonde' enough. I don't want platinum, but I definitely wanted to be light blonde. My natural color is almost dark brown. This time, he kept my base somewhat dark, but worked on getting it very neutral. Then, he focused on the goldest sections and bleached them with foils. He also did skinny lowlights. I am not sure of the tones/levels used. After it was all blown out, he still thought it would help to have lighter sections around my face/bang area, so more foils were applied there (These were areas he didn't highlight the first time). He then put in a toner mix by Goldwell (I tried my hardest to remember everything he was doing, but I always forget...sorry...) which was left in for a short time, I'd say max 5-10 minutes.

Here's my hair today! I'm happy with it...what do you think?
I'm hoping I can finally settle on this color and focus on upkeep from here. It's still a bit dry, but overall, I like!

The funniest thing about all of this, after spending almost 6 hours at the salon on Saturday, I thought my hubby would for sure hit the roof. When I got home, he actually said "It looks pretty" and he admitted he actually likes the color! A total 180, which is fine with me! He still isn't sure about it with my complexion, but I told him that my complexion is ruddy, and no matter what color my hair is, the color is not going to take away the ruddiness, only make it look a more pleasing 'ruddy' or not...kwim?

I think your hair color looks very natural now =] and your eyebrow color goes with it perfectly! Very pretty.
What type of foundation do you use? One with heavier coverage might make your skin look a little less "ruddy" (If it means what I think it means!)

It looks nice on you.

Have you tried using Mineralized SkinFinish Naturals on your skin? I use that on a lot of people with coloring similar to yours and it is nice and light but will tone down the ruddiness. Plus, it doesn't feel or look "makeup-y".

Thanks!

I use Bare Escentuals in Fair. I also use Smashbox color correcting primer, the green one. I have a feeling that I may be dealing with a mild rosacea...I get really red when I exercise or am overheated, and I know that's a sign. I think I'm actually going to see my derm about it and see what he thinks.

I'm glad you like it! It looks really good on you. It has taken me three years to find the perfect blonde, so I totally understand where you are coming from

I haven't used that product, but I'd certainly be willing to give it a try. Would I use it as a powder on top of my normal foundation (BE) or in place of it? I am an NC25 in MAC, so should I use the light?
Thanks!

I like it! I liked the other blonde, as well, but I think this one suits you better. I think it looks nice with your complexion? It makes you look "brighter." [Does that make sense?] :]

I would try it instead of, just to see how it goes. If it works but you want to use the BE then just put the MAC product on top of the BE.
