On the last week of august, me, my sister, her bf and my mom are going to NYC.

Some of you probably know the good spots to visit.
I surely wanna buy some makeup...
graucho.gif

Where should I go?
Any makeup ''outlets''?

Wanna buy ''plus size'' cute shirts too, where?

I'm not really into fake purses or watches, but we'll probably go to Chinatown anyway.

Any night club I should try?
I'll be alone (my sister cant go out, she's only 19) but I'm ok with that.

We'd also like to go visit the Hamptons, where should I go?

So, ladies if you want to help, its going to be a pleasure for me to read your answer!

Thanks!

I don't really know too much about it, but if you're into the show Sex and the City, I know there's some sort of tour you can do, I guess they'll take you around and show you certain spots related to the show? I'd love to do it sometime when I'm in NYC.

There's lots you can see! Do you want tourist spots or no? What kind of nightclubs do you like (music etc)? Do you like dancing?

Where are you guys staying?

The best way to get out to the Hamptons is to take the bus from Port Authority IMHO. It's quick and doesn't stop!

Ho yeah I tought about the Sex and the city tour!
But I'll have to do it alone, my folks dont listen to that show

We are going to stay in Lyndhurst NJ, I stayed there on 2003 new years eve, it was great since the bus stop just beside.

Tourist spots, yes, because we'll be with our mom.

Nightclub : not tooo fancy, I like hip hop music but mostly underground or oldschool (Im not into 50 cent and crunk style, reggeaton neither).

We could go to the Hamptons by car... because we'd take the road to canada after that. Is there a beautifull place to see over there?

Thanks again !!

I've been to NYC twice and i've visted several tourist spots here's some that i visited

Time Square - Of Course lol its a cool place to go, lots of awesome shops.

Macy*s - not far from Times Square and they sell a good collection of MAC in the beauty department

Empire State - Its best to go there early as you can cos i ended up queuing for 2 hours to get a ticket which i only spent 30-60 mins at the top, sometimes you'll be lucky and have little wait but thats not often.

Chinatown and Little Italy - These two towns join each other and they do sell a LOT of fake stuff at bargain prices.

Yellow Rat Bastard - This is the most awesomest store you've visted, its a must visit as they sell some of the coolest stuff and if you want to, bring a shirt of your size and ask the guy at the airbrushing desk to spraypaint/graffiti any design you wish onto your shirt, they also sell plain hats, shirts, converses and belts for spraypainting.

Grand Central Station - I know its a train station but the building design outside is beautiful and also the interior, admission is free.

Central Park - Its absolutely huge, so if you want to see it but havent got all day, take a horse and carriage ride around Central Park and some drivers even give you a detailed tour.

FAO Schwarzt - Huge toy shop but i didnt go in there cos its absolutely packed and again queuing to get in.

Madame Taussauds - Its THE place to go if you like celebrities, again arrive just before opening times so you can avoid huge queues.

Rockefeller Center - Apart from the cool icerink, there isnt really much to see, but its your choice of what you think of the place.

Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood are the places to go for a wicked meal and service, there are loads of memorabilia to look at as you wait for your meal

Thats all i know off top of my head lol i sound like a guide book haha

hope that helps

The The Metropolitan Museum of Art is wonderful if you're into things like that. Also the Museum of Modern Art

It's worth seeing what shows have tickets available for half price at the TKTS booth in Times Square.

To feed the body rather than the mind, here are a few of the places I like to go to when I'm in town;

For a pleasant drink try Bar 89 - great cocktails and the food is good too.

For a very Sex in the city meal, go to Tao Restaurant. It's so Sex and the city that episodes have even been filmed there!

You can have fun at Yaffa Cafe where vegetarians are well catered for. I've done brunch there many times but it's open 24/7. Good for after clubbing.

Manatus is very friendly and reliable for diner style food.

Garage Restaurant serves some great seafood as well as less exotic fare (they do a great Eggs Benedict) and you get live music in the evenings too.

For shopping just walk down 5th Avenue

For shopping go down to fifth and 21st and walk down towards Union Square...there's MAC, MAC Pro, Lush [up b/w 32rd and 33nd on Sixth Avenue) BcBg, Club Monaco, Intermix, Forever 21 (huge one), David Z Shoes, ABC Home & Carpet which is amazing to see. For more upscale shopping, take the PATH to Christopher Street and walk to Soho or the village (Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson, Rampage, Catherine Malandrino, Lulu Guiness, Olive & Bette's, Lounge, Atrium, Big Drop, Zachary's Closet [awesome Japanese remixed vintage clothes]) or you can go to meatpacking district on 8th Avenue and 14th Street which has Scoop, Jeffrey (AMAZING SHOES, even if you can't afford it you MUST go there...), Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, and uber-hip restaurant/cafe Pastis, which you may spot a couple celebs. Some other restaurants I love are John's Pizzeria (locations all over the city), Una Pizza Neopolita (rated #1 in the US), Gobo (panasian vegan food that is incredible), Balthazar, Dos Caminos, Rosa Mexicana, the french cafe in ABC Carpet, Ruby Foo, Magnolia's Bakery (a favorite of SATC). Definently take the Sex & the City tour. I've heard that the coolest club right now is Pink Elephant. Hope I helped you!!

You might want to take some time for yourself and walk around the village... tons of fun shopping down there (There's also a great MAC store in the west village!) There are also a lot of cheesy fun restaurants down there, Cowgirl Hall of Fame is one of my favorites because it's cheesy and themed but the food is actually really good too.
Ricky's is always a good stop for makeup and other random products and they're located all over the place...
As far as clubs just pick up a Time Out NY or Village Voice and check all the listings, usually places have different music on different nights of the week. They also have lists of any show/gallery type things that are going on. Two weeks ago they had this insane exhibit down at South Street Seaport where these people who had donated their bodies to science were on display with different areas of thier innards viewable. It's hard to describe - it was disturbing, yet fascinating at the same time... sorry, i'm just blabbing now :)
The Metropolitain museam is definitely a must see if you haven't been there before... and your mom would probably love a Broadway show! I just saw the Wedding Singer and it was great.
Carmines is a good spot for a family dinner - totally touristy, but the food is good, especially at the one uptown.

Yup, Soho's just like it is in the movies. If you want to relive a movie moment, you can go to Katz's Deli in the East Village. It's where Harry Met Sally and you can have what she had

Tourist spots i'd definately hit up while in the city would be the Macy's Herald Square. It's the flagship macys store and has been there for like ever. Someone said that they sell a good amount of MAC but its just a large counter. I would go to Bloomingdales on 59th & lexington (i use to work there and love it), 7 floors of wonderfullness. I would walk to 5th Avenue and then walk down it to see all the shops. Stop at Rockefeller Center at 47th Street. Someone said Grand Central Station, thats a really good one. Go to Times Square and take lots of pictures too!

Empire State Building and if you guys really wanna go downt here I'd check out the temporary 9/11 Memorial since a lot of people havent seen it yet.

In the Hamptons, its a lot of nice beaches (nice from NY), speciality shops and scenary, food places. It's about 2 hours east on the island away from NYC.

Nightclub wise, I'm more of a dancey person so I prefer lounges with a dancefloor. These are some of my faves: China CLub, Show, Deep, Quo, Suede. I have so many waah!
